I was on tenmanga and there was a page warning that it wasn't normal, it could have malware. And a quick google search seems like it just cropped up recently, what two days ago?
I like google chrome 'cause it seems safe, and has been the fastest browser I've used.
I use kaspersky PURE and I have 9 trojans from god knows where and god knows when. Ads from mediafire, ads from watching stuff online, ads from manga sites even?
I have heard but thought nothing of it, that mangafox ads gave people adware/trojans/viruses. I'm really in the dark and happily so you could say because things change so quickly, feel like I can't trust any advice from people 😀 and a lot of it can be obsolete. Megavideo is gone, limewire too and now I never download music just in case I get a virus again and my desktop dies on me. Also got a warning from manga animea a long time ago and I think that still applies. I love manga reader and manga spectrum. I'm even thinking now that some 16 year old could be reading this and install a virus in manga spectrum ads. Dumb, right? But manga spectrum rocks and dynasty scans, and the scanlators sites are safe, seems like they should be. Why would mangareader and mangafox and a ton of others sites have bad ads though?
Thinking of installing a google chrome adblocker, but I don't see any threats from a cnn ad or a herbal juice, or make money online, and whatever else. It's only a matter of time before I get more trojans but I try to stick to youtube and sites I trust. Just wondering about other people's experiences.

i use firefox with adblock plus. havent had any problems

try finding some sort of adblocking ad-on or whatever for your respective browser- most of them have em these days

Never had a problem with mediafire, have an account there myself actually.
Never had a problem with any manga sites let alone scanlator sites. Anime sites on the other hand...

If you've been using limewire it's no wonder you've gotten all sorts of nasty things. Just stick to reputable sites and scanlators own sites, close to the source. Generally speaking places that collect files (not filehosting sites), toting all sorts of assorted "goodies" are dens of disease, and you'd be better off going looking for more specialized places with healthy communities.

As for ads delivering malware, the sites on which the ads are on might not even be aware of it. They usually let a portion of their website for ads from some ad-provider, and sometimes their vetting of ads fails on some level and less serious ads get through into rotation. You could try alerting a moderator or admin of the website in question to the problematic ad.

I've never had any problems... with manga or anime, and I've been at it for a while.

I'm fairly sure I got a virus from Mangafox a few years ago. Annoyingly I only ever visited MF because people in the I'm Looking For forum linked to pictures there to be IDed. I didn't realise where it was from until someone posted about getting the same virus from MF. It was a serious one, had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows, but luckily I managed to save most of my essential files.

Anyway, it's not hard to stay safe online... no idea how you've managed to accumulate so many trojans. I trust you've got your antivirus software to delete them ASAP?

• Don't let anyone use your computer unsupervised - if you share a computer, make sure all the other users know about anti-virus and -malware measures.
  -Use good anti-virus software (believe it or not, Microsoft's Security Essentials is supposed to be very trustworthy despite being free, and has regular updates - some antivirus software you have to pay for is not very good at all. I don't know about Kapersky but do some research.)
  -Don't run multiple antivirus softwares at once, it doesn't improve your antimalware coverage, they can interfere with each other
  -preferably download only from trusted sites and make sure you scan the files before opening them especially if you are unsure about how trustworthy the source was, be especially wary of .exe files and that sort of thing.
  -Run regular scans for malware.
  -Adblock Plus is good. Get it. There is no reason not to - you can add exceptions for some sites you trust if it's interfering with anything or you want to help the site with ad revenue, but you really need to trust the site and the site's ad providers to make an exception.

There are other useful extensions for Chrome and Firefox that can help keep you on HTTPS sites or stop malicious scripts and such from running, or keep you from being tracked by ad companies or social networks. They are among the most popular extensions so they shouldn't be too hard to find.

After getting a nasty virus from somehwere or other, I only ever download from scanlators/read on scanlator sites/read on trustyworthy sites like Batoto.

Mogiks has some good advice. I use AVG anti virus. My dad is a computer manager, and he recommended it. Your antivirus should scan your computer at least once a week, and remember to keep it updated. An outdated anti-virus isn't much better than having none at all. I use firefox and run HTTPS as well, so try something like that. I also have a pop-up blocker.

I have never had a problem with mediafire, I download directly from the scalators, I suggest you do the same.

The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.
