202 Chapters (Ongoing)

This is one of my favorite manhwa of all time and honestly I'm mad enough about the brainless comments I've seen floating around on some other platforms that I'll just say why people have beef with it: the mc isn't op, the worldbuilding doesn't cater to the main cast, and the women aren't stupid. This is not a power fantasy. This is a historical manhwa that takes a realistic view of how warfare, societal structure and power dynamics would work in a historical setting with the murim and martial arts in the mix.
For people complaining the brother is stupid: yeah? I guess? He's really not so much stupid as he is ignorant, and he picks things up quick. Do they not like him because he's loyal to his family? Because he's reasonably talented but not the genius of the century? God forbid we have a regular teenager as a protagonist, instead of some reborn old man, power hungry tyrant, or tired office worker.
For people complaining about the sister: If you only read manhwa for the pretty pictures and the action, leave. This manhwa isn't for you. If you read manhwa for plot, for worldbuilding, for character, for a good story, then I have no idea why you would dislike the sister. Is it because she's mad at her brother for leaving her alone? Well, I hate to burst you bubble, but back then they had different societal expectations. Yes, he was a child. But as her older brother he had an obligation to stay with her and keep her safe. Not saying that him staying would have amounted to much practically, but that isn't why she's mad at him. She's mad because he was supposed to stay, still left, promised to come back, and didn't. He willingly left her to fend for herself. And she does still love him. If you don't have the reading comprehension to tell, this story isn't for you.
If you still don't like the sister, then maybe look yourself in the mirror and ask: if she was a man who did all this scheming, would I like her? Because a lot of hate on this story just sounds like yall hate women
The action is great, fights don't drag, characters are well written, no loose plot points, everything in this webtoon makes sense and there're numerous foreshadowing and references to careful readers who're paying attention. Worth the read.
