I know why you clicked on this manga. The cover reminded you of Akebi-chan no Silor fuku.
This manga is best summarized: „Ever wondered how life of Akebi Komichi would look like if she wasn't born in a happy, functional family in countryside, and didnt go to private high school, but would instead be an orphan trained as an assassin?“
Me neither.
But unfortunately, that's exactly what author of this work tries to answer. So yea, he brings his perchenant for drama gore and rest of it and pairs it with fluffy cute aesthetic we know from another manga. But, no happy cute fluffy childhood in this one. Brace yourselves.
The story is; ordinary boy falls in love with girl. Girl is of assassin background. In order to be with her, boy is drawn into this entire mess. A mix of cute and fluffy with a LOT of suffering, angst, drama unfolds while they try to cling to their love in a world of criminals, yakuza, etc. And you have a girl who looks like Komichi's twin in center of it all, complete with the cute, fluffy style to make the gap more apparent.
It's kind of trippy, seeing the familiar drawing style that we connect to something relaxed and a comfortable, positive setting being used to portray essentially Kite.
In a way it reminds me of Cutie Mutie with its cute artstyle portraying dark serious and gory topics, only with added discomfort of familiar faces and art being used to create something whose intention is to make your heart sink.
I personally prefer Hiro's work as i like to see cuteness be happy.
