The author's writing really can't be considered exceptional, just alright. He can be a bit too explicit with the telling "MC is nice" rather than showing. Furthermore, the first person can be a bit jarring, and occasionally the narration is broken with a sort of, "in the future, this would happen" as a sort of comic relief. That said, I somewhat enjoy this series. No, it's not as good as other works on wuxiaworld: the characters don't have as much depth, some stuff is too easily given to the MC, and it can get a bit boring. However, after reading a never-ending amount of underdog > introduce antagonist > magic loli (or other) suddenly gives power > revenge (or the reincarnation equivalent), I find the differences pleasant.
Firstly, the story as a whole is a bit more cozy than most, largely because the MC is lazy and that carries over to the reader. Mind you, it's not like a sort of sitting around a fireplace cozy, more like drinking a warm drink on a chilly morning. Mildly pleasant, and only that.
Secondly, The MC actually has morals consistent with rational people instead of the classic "POWER IS EVERYTHING, REVENGE" thought process. He has killed but found it distasteful and rarely kills beyond that. That said, him finding it distasteful is skimmed over, again due to the author's deficiencies in skill.
Thirdly, Thus far, the MC isn't pursuing a harem, and the romance is pleasant. MC's romance fits into that coziness where initially there's a bit of conflict, but everything falls into place in a comfortable way. One of MC's friend's romance is filled with conflict and can be an emotional rollercoaster, if a bit predictable.
Otherwise, the author's a bit heavy-handed with the foreshadowing; though I haven't gotten to the promised event, the author's mentioned it 4 times, even having characters outright say it. In addition, the battle scenes can be a bit tame.
All said, I'm abstaining from giving it a score. Objectively, it's not very good. I wouldn't recommend it to someone entering the world of webnovels. Admittedly, I actually dropped it at some point and only picked it up again recently while browsing through my list of novels, but I'd say it's a nice change of pace, just not astounding. Then, maybe my palette of webnovels is a bit limited if this is the first I've encountered where the MC isn't a bloodthirsty deity that wants to build a harem.
