The King and the Paladin

Description

Ezekiel is a gentle and noble paladin who commands the Order of Silver Knights in Panroem City. But when the new ruthless tyrant of Alfensiad, King Calliope, orders him to join Duke Heilich's family as his successor, he has no choice but to comply in order to save his powerless city-state. Little does he know that what he thought was a diplomatic mission would lead him into a forced marriage with "Bloody Calliope" herself! It's even more of a shock when Ezekiel discovers that Calliope is actually someone he knew in the past... and with the grudge she holds against him, it looks like he's in for a tense marriage. Can the unlikely couple clear up the misunderstandings between them and make something of their relationship, despite its rocky beginnings?

Ending just made me feel weird. FL got jealous thinking the ML had previously been married so she destroyed his hand-crafted house for two. Then the ML, excited to finally show her this house he had built and filled over the years just for her (his childhood love) but is devastated to see it’s all destroyed. They obviously resolve the conflict and everyone’s happy…but it was still kind of sad.

It's a good story overall with a very sweet and wholesome ending. I would have rated it higher to an 8 or even 9 if not for the first dozen chapters. Calliope is a terrible character and I really feel like the authors had to quickly flip a switch to sweeten her up towards the end via the flashback arc that only made how both her and Ezekiel act so oblivious of the other's traumas so infuriating. Most would say it doesn't have a lot of drama, but for this story it worked to it's disadvantage as the source of conflict hangs on a misunderstanding perpetuated by one character being too distrustful and resentful to hear out her own husband she essential railroad into a wedding. And the other side is a pretty pathetic, spineless guy who can't make the effort (or any act with agency) to just tell her the damn truth. He's aware that they all think he has a mistress on the side because he overhears the gossip! melodrama is annoying and many josei in particular seems to love dragging things out with repetitive same old conflict or several manufactured conflicts that don't build to anything. Both are painful instances of padding a tale. This one is about 31 chapters total (with redrawn chapters with actual sex in them for that smut tag), but about the first 2 chapters and the last 6 progressed the plot.

the FML rapes the ML through using drugs and other things thus forcing him to relive horrible trauma please ignore all the people calling it "spicy" or "hot" if the roles were reversed they'd be cursing this as if it were made by the devil himself they're simply disgusting people looking to make an excuse for the rapist female lead.

Short manhwa but still enjoyable. I felt like the ending was rushed but we got a nice happy ending with an epilogue. There is a Smut tag, so yes the scenes are spicy. Overall good short read.

The story's okay. The leads leave much to be desired. FL is too aggressive and tyrannical that she becomes toxic. ML is too passive and cowardly. Nonetheless, it was still an interesting enough read for me to finish it in one sitting.

Contrast to what other people feel about this manhwa, I'm actually loving it. Recommend to someone who loves angst and can distinguish between reality and fantasy. Happy reading.

I love how author portrayed the FL into someone that has became corrupt (? idk if that's the right word)

It's a short manhwa but a very satisfying one. I think I found yet another favorite author

So I skimmed this just to see where the pointless misunderstanding ends. The misunderstanding ends at the end of the book, yes the author will drag the misunderstanding on right up to the final chapter.

The chapters that tell the story of their past life was a better read than the actual story (even if it was rather cliche).

The biggest issue is how the author handles traumatic things. You don't make a rape scene and later try to sell the idea to your reader that the victim wanted it. You can't have someone be so tightly bound that they are bruised the next morning and tell the reader, the victim wanted that, they are fine with it; it especially doesn't work when the victim is someone who has spent a lifetime being abused.

None of the elements in the story are what make it bad, but the execution of it all is the problem. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and its a shame b.c had the author focused more on flushing out the characters and exploring them psychologically then this might have been really good.
