I'll start by saying that the art is phenomenal. I know that I'm looking at a good artist when they got RANGE. they can draw pretty characters with expressive faces and detailed outfits, AS WELL as a demonic creature that's straight out of a horror manga. There is also flowing movement for believable fight scenes (no stiff boards), and the biggest flex for this genre of webtoons in this day and age, ACTUALLY DRAWN HORSES (XD) instead of 3D models that most webtoon artists use, which is fine, I normally ignore these artist shortcuts because it's more about the characters and story for me.
Speaking of story and character, that's where it kinda loses me. DISCLAIMER: This is only a first impression since I only read up to ch 5, so there is a good chance it gets better, I just did not get hooked and didn't feel like continuing to read it.
This story takes a less common approach in webtoons with storytelling by throwing you in the middle of the main character's journey/adventure. And while that can work in some cases, it made me feel confused and lost, like I missed some chapters explaining who people are, where they are, and what's the goal. The translation of the particular site I was reading off of was also hard to follow, which did not help with understanding intent.
I think the characters have good potential, they have the right elements, but I just couldn't find myself really liking any of them since we didn't get some sort of introduction or indication of character. The female lead, the maid, and the male lead just... appear, and I feel confused because I feel like I missed something and should know them already. (this could also be the fault of the poor translation, mind you)
All in all, I don't think it's a bad webtoon and I think most people would like it, but for me, the storytelling failed to hook me for the first few chapters, which can be the most critical time to grab a reader.
Edit: After writing this, I went back to read a little bit more because the art is just so good and expressive. and I got to say, chapter 7 is GLORIOUS. I still don't really have any emotional connection with the characters, but the ball scene was VERY good.
