I read about this on TV Tropes. The plot sounded so incredibly stupid that I couldn't pass it up. Gotta say this was actually pretty funny. It's about as mature as Jungle De Ikou & the author wasn't taking it serious at all, giving everyone pun names that come off like a fanfic written by a 13 year old boy who just discovered boobs existed, but when you look at how insipid the plots of most ecchi & hentai series are, you realize that it's not insulting your intelligence as much as you thought (as the main character repeatedly states that she thinks the concept of the plot is stupid, so it's self-mocking, & I get the feeling), & you're thankful that the author bothered giving it a strong female lead & an actual plot.
So a little about the art style.... The men have a very recycled design that makes them hard to distinguish from eachother, & the women are so boy-faced that they look like drag queens.
The manga seems to take itself far more seriously than the anime. Sofar only 1 volume of this manga has been scanlated & I can tell you that there is very little breast-grabbing & only moderate occasional nudity, so I don't know where the animators get off putting as much of that shit in as they could. The anime seems to go follow the Eiken & Puni-Puni Poemi school of juvenile comedy. The manga mocks it's own plot & it's target audience, making the bustiest women into selfish cruel women & all the flat-chested women into victimized angels...The anime just seems to focus on the breasts & makes them twice as big as they are in the manga, with 11 times more nudity, like the entire point of the manga being a mockery of the genre was completely lost on the director.
Chifusa reminds me of Jubei-Sama from Juubei-Chan, & Lina Inverse from Slayers; Juubei is a busty samurai warlord who has no interest in relationships & lives to fight. Lina is a flat-chested woman who is not a villain but is a wanted criminal on the run none-the-less, & has to do dumb odd jobs to make enough to eat & sleep in a hotel before hitting the road, & usually know one knows who she is until she's already left town.
If you enjoyed this manga, I recommend reading/watching Dragon Half, Kyonyuu Dragon, Blitz Tactics Najica, Juubei-Chan, Slayers, & anything by Go Nagai.
