Description

It’s only sleeping together while holding hands, nothing else. That’s what Shin Wooseo tells himself when a red ring that ties a person to their soulmate appears on his finger one day. Once two people get tied by the ring, they cannot fall asleep unless they’re physically together. I read the plot and was interested in reading this Manhwa, but then I went down to the comments and was in complete shock by how bad they said the story was. I took a chance, and read it... I kept waiting for it to become this horrible story when it was an average BL Manhwa.

Was the male lead manipulative? Yes Was the male lead cruel to his previous partners? Yes Was this story as horrible as described? No

It was an average BL with a pretty familiar storyline that included a nice twist of destined partners being tied to each other by a ring.

I like that the story gave an option for the characters to remove the ring and even being able to transfer the ring

I dropped my score when the little brother accepted his fate too quickly (and randomly). Why did you stay in their way anyway, if your feelings are this shallow? Just suffer on the side, dude. He was acting like big brother was stealing his playmate.

Finally done with it, it was such a pointless and stressful read for me
I'm not recommended it at all especially how things turned out without the manipulative dude even regret treat his younger brother like garbage , that's really pissed me off + uke is too weak and stupid af, can't even think for himself or choose for himself, he is the best example of Stockholm syndrome, this is another thing pissed me off so much 😩

Jigeon is a garbage character. He's horrible to his brother and previous partners.. super manipulative. Everything is forgiven because he did it out of love.. in reality thats just creepy.

I was never a fan of a set-up like this (predestined partner, miscommunication, love-triangle, manipulative seme) but hey, the art is pretty and I wanted to know how they are gonna go about the question true love/pre-destined fate?

Without putting to much spoiler, though there is really nothing extraordinary about the story to be spoilered, it ends with "well, love is love". The endless agonizing and the manipualtive behavior of the seme ended up being pointless and not really taking into accord for the conclusion. Like it gets relevant for one conversation and then just taken lightly after that.

I Really Enjoyed It Until A Certain Point

Kang Jigeon is shown to be more manipulative of the situations than I was expecting. In his position, aware of both Shin Wooseo's mixed feelings and Kang Jiseok's limited knowledge of the situation, he stacks the odds in his favor. The thing is, if I wasn't shown HIS POV for a number of chapters, then I might've enjoyed the story same as usual.

I started the comic, enjoying the mixed feelings that the main character, Shin Wooseo, has between his supposed fated partner versus the crush that he had for years and years. The art is great. The story prompted some questions.

Should you fight against fate? Is all really fair in love and war?

The story starts on premises that are explained in Chapter 1:

In an alternative contemporary Korea, people can have a fated lover, who is a person they've encountered an touched (even handshakes and shoulder bumps count). After they touch, they get a high fever and a red ring, visible only to them two, appears on their ring finger. Away from each other, the two fated ones are unable to sleep or rest.

I find those premises interesting and much saner than most Omegaverse premises (which most often lead to rape or dubious consent). This is on the cute side with a twist of depth: What is fate? Can you fight it? Should you?
