Interesting manga with a manipulative, possibly sociopathic ML and a FL who despite being older is naive, immature and inexperienced. What seems at first like a fairly conventional student/teacher story takes a dark turn as the plot progresses and a gap in emotions becomes evident - this isn’t a romance manga so much as a psychological thriller, so definitely don’t read it with the expectation of seeing a cute couple. I didn’t mind the ending, it made sense with the way I see the characters:

The FL is terrified of their relationship ending and the ML wants to maintain his control over her, so they cling to a shred of their relationship - the phone. Basically he’s saying ‘maybe someday...’ and ‘don’t forget me’ to give her false hope and prevent her from moving on. I can see how people could interpret it as the ML having an emotional connection with her but nothing he did in the manga implied that to me. We don’t even know whether he had feelings for the original teacher or whether he was just manipulating her and became upset when he thought he was losing his control over her. I view this manga as being all about control and being controlled.

Enjoyable until the last chapter

The last chapter absolutely ruined this story for me.

Ryu Min just randomly disappears on Miss Jung when he's supposed to meet up with her. Time skip. He sends her a key to a lockbox that has a phone in it. It never explains why he leaves or when they will get back together.

Ok at first I didn't understand the ending, like why did he leave ? Was it necessary? But then the title of this manhwa reminds me why. The point of this story isn't about the Love of your life, the person with who you are going to spend your life with. This story is all about The first love and all the seduction / fascination you encounter when you first fall in love. It might not end well, and sometimes it can be painful to recall but real first love is always the one you will remember for the rest of your life while trying to forget it.
Overall the storyline could have been better, the pacing is a bit weird as well and apart from the sizzling attraction between the main leads and the mystery surrounding Ryumin's scar there is nothing really special about this manhwa. I guess Ryumin can be attractive but he sure is a jerk and a real player, until the end lol there is no character development whatsoever on his part. We didn't get to see why he lives away from his parents either, the author completely ignore his family background explaination. So in the end who is he really? Why did he quit school and work at his age while his fmaily seems well of?
Funnily enough for a story about love between a teacher and her student, the age gap is never once shown haha.

Its ok, but the author forces the characters to do things that they probably wouldn't normaly do just in order to keep the plot bittersweet. like the ending for example, why? it just didnt make any sense except to keep it sad... There was no need for this.

The story follows a wonderfully thought-out arc. A nice full circle so to say. I wished the ending was more... eventful, but other than that, lovely manga. The art is great, I especially liked the kiss scene (when Jung kisses him for the first time), really felt the passion (which is rare for that type of scene - kudos to the mangaka).

The title leads one to think that love is not present in this manga, but it very much is. The teacher loves him. And others feel love for characters. An ever constant emotion in this manga. However I'm not as sure about Ryu Min's feelings. Not sure what he is thinking at all... I dislike him in that aspect, but other wise he makes a for a very interesting character. Wouldn't mind reading more about him.

As my title suggests, the ending I had an expectation for, but it ended in such a way that was not to my liking (not a bad ending per say, just not AT ALL what I wanted). And considering the manga is relatively predicable, that ending just bugs me to no end.

The love stories are a bit disappointing in the long end. They all have their interesting parts, but they didn't connect with each other as much as they could have. The main couple take most of our time in the story, which is a bit sad, considering the interest I had with the side couples (or more like the interest I had in the drama that could have happened via the side love interests).

The ratings for this manga are all over the place and for good reasons. Only thing you can do is read it yourself and see where it takes you.

The series was like I said... okay. I really expected more from an artist like LEE Hyeon-Sook who is nothing less than amazing. I mean, after reading Savage Garden and Flowers of evil, it really make you expect more. The relationship between the leads is hot, seductive and interesting but the ending?? I don't know. I didn't feel anything. Like there was more to it but wasn't. An average read. But if you can, do read Savage Garden, and Flowers of evil - they are the best works of the manhwaka.

What was with that shitty ending?! It was going well, so unique and than BAM the unsatisfying ending! I gave it a six because the story had potential, but the ending wrecked it.

So many questions are raised by this story.

One scene I found particularly interesting was

when Daoun remembered at the end of the series when she first met Ryu Min in the bathroom

This was really a powerful scene! At that moment, I felt like the story came full circle. Problem is, this only raised more questions.

Did Ryu Min really target Daoun because of her brother? Or was it because she looked like the teacher who died? Or was it because he felt something for her in that first moment they met? Or is it a combination of all these?

I didn't realize how important this scene was until I read it a second time. After realizing that, the ending made a greater impact on me.

@blogai: the reason why she loves him is simple. The moment he gave her a piggyback ride, she was reminded of her first love (Youngmin). I think the real question here is does she have a fetish about piggyback rides LOL. Well, anyway, I think it's more of an attraction issue. There's obviously great chemistry going on between the two. It's epic and undeniable, which we see in the last volume when she finally kisses him. This also kind of explains why she doesn't like HyunWoo...there's just no attraction on her part (hmm...I guess she has a thing for bad boys?).

I don't know if I really like the ending per say, but it was definitely very...memorable. There's so really not enough background story to make a full judgment on RyuMin. We get so little glimpses of scenes just about him that there's not much the audience CAN learn about him. From the storytelling, we're led to believe that the RyuMin's behavior is defined by his affair with the heroine's brother, but the ending suggests otherwise. Or...maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

I never wanted to read this manhwa because the weird/low rating made me suspect it's no good.

Well.

That was "never". Forget that, I picked it up today. Just wanted to skimm through it, seeing if it's any good.....
But still, that was "just" skimming. And then, at some point I started to read and pay attention. I started to enjoy it. It was weird, lovely and beautiful.
The main male chara is an asshole. Possibly also a playboy. The female lead was rash, but likeable. Oh, and I want to include naiv and slightly idiotic as well.
The art was - what nearly everybody here tells you - gorgeous and absolutely lovely. I might check out more of her works, also because her story telling is interesting.
I mean - you THOUGHT it would be like any OTHER shoujo. It was partly like the typical shoujos - won't tell what parts or else I might spoiler - but the ending and the past of the male lead are dfiferent. I really liked the past part. It was so different of the stuff I read before, even though it doesn't mean it was even a bit more realistic.
What I really appreciated was the ending. It was nice and different. And actually, this is a ** ** warning ** **:
**If you can't handle the main chara being an asshole, keep away. And I mean it like that. He's not just a "bad guy", he's much more than that.
If you don't like it when the female characters get pushed around, tricked or else, get out of here. This isn't a series for you, definetly not.
And, one last bit: If you want a happy light read without an open end, don't expect one: It's very dark, and you also need to give this series another thought: Why did he do that, did he maybe lie there or why is she like that, ... it might help creating your own personal ending. **

Well. That's it. I personally enjoyed this series, and maybe you will do so as well.

God, the ending is so damn frustrating. Otherwise, I loved it entirely.

The art is GORGEOUS. As always. No need to repeat my love for Lee Hyoen-Sook's art.

The storyline was, from my experience with Flowers of Evil, heart-achingly thrilling, in a sense. You KNOW what is going to happen, but you still wonder what in the world will the characters decide to do. I love how it goes by a slow, even pace to let the story progress into full maturity. Definitely, it's for an older audience, but as a thirteen year old, I quite enjoyed it. The ending was just so annoyingly unclear.

The characters are great, I liked Ha Young's character very much. She was impressively smart in certain occasions, and she dealt certain problems interestingly. The main character, Miss Jung, however, was a bit of a pest. She's one of those impulsive characters where you just want to yell out,"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" She's not that bad, I just wish she would have acted more mature and less like she's below her age. It's a nuisance. I certainly enjoyed the energetic "I'm alpha male" feel all three main male characters emanated. You could just feel the electric hatred between some of them at times.

Anyway, it's an enjoyable read, if you could get past the annoying ending.
