Confusing but fun

I have no interest in the military whatsoever so I barely understand what they are talking about and I don't care. This is similar to sports manga - I can read volumes of it but the rules never etch into my brain. What I want is just the enthusiasm of the characters whether in playing a sport or fighting a war, in which the MC has plenty of. Even though she always complain internally about not liking to fight, when she does she always do her best and MCs doing their best is so fun to read.

Eventhough I don't care about the tactics, I do enjoy reading it when the mangaka doing his best to make it simple and easy especially with the cute animal mascots. But as I'm not a military otaku I don't know how accurate or how feasible everything is so if you don't think they are accurate this might not be enjoyable.

I don't know how much the manga follows the novel, but I've read up to volume #4 now and I'm finding it better than the anime. Things are better explained and more consistent, plus the artist is very talented.

This thing is out of bounds.

A sociopath (and sadistic) salaryman reborn into a uberpowered loli by a bonkers god with an attention complex?

Seriously though, it started great without the witchcraft, we could've had a very potent story with the hero struggling to get recognition by the military, due to being a woman in the early 20th century, fighting her way through hierarchy to finally make massive tactic breakthroughs, thanks to his past intellect and knowledge of WW1...

But no. nope. had to be flashy so we get:

Mix and Match napoleonian, WW1 AND WW2 gear and tactics. Wacky sense of secrecy and espionnage and a Mary Stu MC.

TL;DR:
-4 points for the nonsense this thing is littered with. in another context, the reborn MC would make an excellent evil hero...if he had flaws.
6 points on the visuals, albeit seriously cluttered and recycled in the manga. this looks new and kinda outlandish.
4 points on the atmosphere. it looks good too.
0 points for the story. it's just someone with a raging boner for SS uniforms hacking together WW1 and WW2, with a touch of ultraviolence and blue blade/macross combat.

Warning, spoilers ahead.

Ludicrous at all levels notion of what turned the tide of WW1, replacing it with something even more radical, only to somehow not achieve anything?

Technological gaps bigger than the san andreas fault?
Seriously though, as i just told, we have WW1 and blackpowder era uniforms, facing PZ1s in the mangas and PZ4's in the anime for fucks sake.

witches as a combat spearhead, using plasma-esque shields, invisibility and more, able to fly up to 8000 meters, able to communicate at ranges that even today, defy logic without satellite support, armed with a mix of infantry weapons taken from 1890's to the late 1940's? (that, alone is kinda proper wtf material alone, why dont they carry automatics if they have post '39 Panzers...)

Witches and witchers, that somehow miss each others like WW2 planes and can also obliterate buildings for 4+ miles away?

Why not pushing the wtf with rockets while we're at it?

Oh shit the anime did it. it's also adding the afrika korps to the game too.
we have a serious fetishist for nazi generals to say the least.

Okay the dynamics of the whole shtick hold together a pretty decent seinen,

Reincarnation stories aren't anything special nowadays, but the setting already begins intriguingly enough - a tough career-focused salaryman turns into a magical loli officer in a war-ravaged fantasy version of our world (set in pseudo-Germany during WWI). More amusingly, this happens because he enounters god after his death and manages to anger him.

In any case, the result is a person who's 100% career focused and just wants to become a pencil-pusher, yet anything he does to achieve it just lands him (her) closer on the frontlines. It's ridiculous.
Oh, and the fight scenes are great. And all the terrible / tough faces are awesome. And the anthropomorphic animals used to depict the various powers and politicians are a really clever and stylistically appealing choice.

I could go on, but I think I've made my point. I universally recommend this.
