The dialogue is really nice in this manga. Especially the chapter where the four sisters were introduced, I loved their dynamic.
There is a large cast and the author loves to abruptly jump around in the story, so it can get confusing at times.
The ending is kinda bad, the couple had to split and do some off-camera character development before they got back together.
It is still worth reading.

This story tries to do too much all at once. The result is that it is pretty hard to follow at times to the point where even large, climactic moments can occur and I have to read the next chapter's little summary to understand what exactly happened. The main characters romance ends up feeling like a subplot among subplots as lots of it happens off screen. Would have preferred if their relationship and its developments were shown more. As is, it feels like the author had about a dozen character dynamics that she wanted to explore, and ended up not being able to do any of them justice.

It still has Shimura Takako's interesting perspective on relationships, and was refreshing to read a yuri story that grappled with relationships in an interesting way that wasn't all fluff or forced melodrama. I think I'll stick with her other works though.

First off, the whole setting for the story is utterly beyond suspension of disbelief. Everyone is freaking lesbian. Your friend, your mom, your friend's friend, and etc is lesbian. And guess what? They're all lesbian for one or two of the same girls.

Second, the main character is cute but also pathetically meek, too considerate and for a lack of a better term "easy girl." She comes off as someone who will fall for anyone that says "I like you."

Third, the single most likable character, Acchan, is shoved aside in favor of drama centering the piece of shit princess tomboy and various unrequited love around her. While it sounds okay for a yuri/drama story, it becomes unrealistic when almost every single girl falls for her for no apparent reason except that she looks like a handsome man. You're lesbian no? Why are lesbian girls specifically liking her because she looks like a MAN?

The story would be very enjoyable if the focus was shifted on Acchan and her charming, energetic activities instead of the melancholic, angst-filled polygon love around piece of shit princess tomboy and the pathetic main character.

I'm not against homosexuals/lebsians but with the way these characters are so annoyingly portrayed that I feel like everyone, with the exception of Acchan, are a waste of living space.

This is my first yuri story (i'm a fujoshi) it's cute but almost some of it will make you confused esp. At the pov of Fumi she certainly have so many love lol and there are so many characters that sometimes i ldk who's who. I like the brother who has a sister complex lol (unconsciously wanting some incest) well i think this is good but so slow paced, i think i can appreciate it more if the story were not like loosing grips to each other, i mean it's kinda like jumping off and their feelings are not stable

So much better. Crybaby protagonist tag is kind of misleading. It doesn't last.
The character development is good. Multiple plot-lines are nice.
Was surprised by this good romance manga with character development. Haven't read one in a while.

Aoi Hana, like its namesake, is a very flowery series. It is, for me, a pretty stereotypical shoujo-ai in a lot of ways. There are various elements which break it free from that mold a little bit(the addition of overt sexual activity in a package seemingly intended for female consumption, vague touches of realism, etc), which did make it more enjoyable. Overall I can't say I am a huge fan of it though. I did not find the story or the characters particularly relatable. The story itself, while sweet and wistful, is not terribly realistic to begin with. That is important to me with gl and the reason why I just don't bother to read a great deal of it. I wish there were more truly realistic, plot centered series, but for now I guess I'm stuck with things like Honey & Honey.

Nice artwork, cute characters - except for the butch. Story is disjointed and I always find myself moving back some pages, because it's difficult to understand just what the hell happens, or who's having that internal monologue. Also, suspension of disbelief is rapidly depleted, since everyone and their mother is a lesbian™.

Do yourself a favor and read Girl Friends, much better fleshed out.

Its pretty sweet and for the most part gentle in the way the author is telling the story. The art is pretty nice. The complaints I have is that there are many characters and I wouldn't mind the story being a little more focused on fewer characters. The pace is a bit slow at times and after 44 chapters I wouldn't mind things being a bit more energetic or exciting. But, I still really like it. Fumi's character is really starting to develop and I can't help feel bad for how tough it can be for her trying to find someone to love and be loved by. If you like slice of life with a light yuri component and don't mind the slow pace (many yuri titles are like that) then I would definitely recommend this one.

Oh, and Lililicious has done a great job translating this work.

That's Fumi in a nutshell. You may not like her, but you may like her.
Yes, it's a slow-paced story. So, don't chug it like beer, savour it like wine.

A must read along with Sasameki Koto and Candy Boy.
