"I am, in fact, one of the dead."
So says Acony, a rather mischievous girl, upon her first meeting with protagonist Motomi. Newly moved into an ancient apartment, how will Motomi handle Acony and all the bizarre residents?
3 Volumes (Complete)

This one's a bit weird.Like the author really really wants to emphasize on the nostalgia feel(in my opinion, like the whole chapters revolve around the past or old stuff of the apartment) but it gets weird. The entire mystery of this manga is thrown into the dustbin in an instant(around chapter 15) and makes the manga less appealing from that point onwards. Then again,I guess the author doesn't wants to turn this into a dark manga but still it's disappointing.Acony is the only character I love in this manga.

This story is full of nice elements, a charming mysterious girl, a bunch of cute creatures, a setting where lots of intriguing questions linger, and a lively, curious boy protagonist who wants to know all. The first half or so is great!
Then, apparently, it got cancelled in its first magazine, and only got continued years later, when it was resurrected in another. A story like this, whose impact relies upon mystery and a sense of magic just around the corner, is a delicate creation that requires lots and lots of imagination and belief in the project to succeed, and I think Toume Kei ran out of those over the course of her long absence from the story. The second part is disappointing.
But Toume-san is so creative that she can really suck you in when she's working at her peak, and the first half demonstrates that. Read it to experience that unique quality.
Toume is one of the few mangaka I really pay attention to. Her storylines are always fairly original, her pacing is almost never faulty, her characters have a certain measure of depth, and to top it all off she has a strong, detailed art style that matches the pessimistic atmosphere that she so often attempts to evoke. Acony is not a deviation from these qualities. It may not be her strongest work, but Acony is a strong slice of life piece with just enough drama to keep the characters interesting. As I read more I find myself genuinely absorbed by it, and I can only hope she picks up her pen and finishes it someday.
it hasn't started yet there are only two chapters and the oneshot out as of now i like the story, where its going, and the drawing as well.
