tl;dr : It started fun and kinda original, and very quickly turned into a very generic read.
Now if you want to know a bit more, feel free to keep reading.
This starts as an interesting read, quite funny too.
We have a very naïve and good hearted MC, he's a priest and keeps getting "suckered" into doing the easy/cheap quests nobody wants to do, just because the npcs are sad seeing them rot there.
It is fun, and since it's not something I've read much about before (despite reading a lot of those vrmmos manwhas) I was interested.
As he falls into yet another trap because of his habit to always help any npc that asks, and ends up stuck in a special dungeon, he ends up getting the rarest class of them all, which prerequisite for obtention, was being the goodest player ever and having helped so many npcs you're a genuine good guy in their eyes.
I won't get into too much details past that, I was just setting the synopsis (it's all basically the very first chapter, not quite a spoiler).
here is what his new class does (it's chapter 2, but spoiler just in case)
Let's just say from this super powerful class (I'll let you guess what the name is, hint, it's in the title) which has basically 2 main features, he gets an attacking spell that's very, very, veryx91928 strong. (it basically one shots everything that isn't a boss)
And a new stat called Kindness, that does one little thing. Every point he gets in it, give him a stat point in every other stat (not to mention makes quests rewards better, but that's barely touched upon later).
All of a sudden of course, the MC decides to do all the little quests he has access to, becomes very op for his level (there are 5 stats, you normally get 5 point a level, +1 every stat is basically a free level for every point of kindness which he gets every time he does a good deed)
We soon learn not only does he get this "kindness" from quests, but also from killing player killers, criminal npcs, and just setting up a stand doing free casts of heals on anybody who asks. Which well, is broken as hell, but it's kinda par for the genre at this point.
At this point you might wonder why I absolutely don't recommend this, and you'd be right, the beginning, if kind of trop'y, is still enjoyable, and the very good natured mc that keeps being made fun of is a new one for me.
So I would have rated it a 7 so far.
But...
Up to the chapter about 10, it's all well and good, it's full of tropes but nothing too bad, frankly readable and pretty sure that's where most people have read.
But suddenly the genre shifts.
Pretty sure the author, like many authors who started with a MC being in a support class, decided it wasn't cool enough to have him stand there and helping others.
So he does a few changes :
- The mc becomes calculating out of the blue. There is a particular example in my mind where you have an npc grandma literally crying, and begging on the ground, and the MC just ignores her cause he's busy. Despite this being his entire character from the start. (he later still accepts her quest, but reluctantly, without any initial intention to solve it)
- Incidentally, he also completely forgets that kindness is the fastest way to level up. (1 free level for finding a cat in a tree... 1 free level for casting heal on each citizen that had a little backpain... We haven't seen his full stats recently at chap 23, but he was at about 40 last count, at level 57. (he was about 40 when he got the class)
- Oh and... Somehow, the mc despite being best at attacking with his op spell. Suddenly decides that he needs to be a swordsman instead and has him pump strength with his points, start learning the sword out of the blue, and stop using anything else as a means of attack.
Well ok, not everything, he still casts holy explosion from time to time, and one shots stuff easily, but still insists he need to fight with his sword (he needs like 4/5 perfect hit for the same thing) because... well... I guess It's easier to make it look cool in the manwha rather than a guy who stands there and casts spells.
I will admit I haven't read past 24.
And that some of those things that irk me have reasonable explanations.
But I'm sorry, the explanations I've seen have been very far fetched, when it had anyone even trying to defend the author on those choices at all.
But so far, it has been a very enjoyable, new (not gonna say breath of fresh air) take on a MC that's just good and fun. Something that could have been like "please have a meal" for example, where we have a good natured MC, with a support class, that just goes around having fun.
And all of a sudden it switched to an edgy, kinda annoying, full of plot armor and tropes, completely unoriginal manwha.
little bonus, might be good for some, and not for others :
It doesn't have the tags for it (yet) but I'm absolutely expecting this one to be harem sooner or later too. This is pure speculation on my part, but let's just say as far as I've read, it has all the signs for it.
