PSoH was a psychological horror series with a relationship between Leon & D that went from annoyance to kinda friends to "best friends raising a kid together" (Leon's little bro) to arguably Leon falling for D (I mean he quit his job & abandoned his family just so he could return a drawing? Sure sure. & he didn't seem to want to kill him like the way Howell hunted down his father).

Well, this is one of many MANY mangas I've read that suffered from Genre Shift. The horror & gore were pretty much completely stripped from the stories of people who visited the petshop. The 2ed grievance was that D & Fei-Wu lack the dynamic relationship of D & Leon, indeed they never really get along as time goes on. Lastly, when Leon finally DOES show up, D is already on a plane to another country. Fujoshis will also be irritated to learn that this series had no BL subtext whatsoever. (argh, it's just like what happened to With Love from Eroica).

The series SORT OF continues, in the form of a prologue centered around Soufu D (grampa). Chinese scans for the series have sort of stopped, but the series is apparently still going. Maybe only after it ends will we get back to D. One of the biggest gateways is that she's working on so many series at once that there can be a year between volume releases.

At least the art is still good. ::sigh::

Personally, I would skip this series outright unless another true sequel comes out of it. I would however recommend the Passage Han prequel, even if you can only find it in Chinese.

A nice sequel to the series. For those wondering about Leon...fufufu. Wait and see. The ending leaves me hoping that sensei will continue the series.

At the very least Leon needs to catch up with D! He was so close >_< Don't leave us hanging, sensei!

I cried after reading a few chapters of this manga because, frankly, Pet Shop of Horrors just isn't the same without Leon damit!!!

Reading this made me realize how much I loved the bromantic relationship between LeonXcount D in the original series, which was what truly kept me reading... Without Leon, Count D's adventure is like Yin-Yang with only the Yin, missing the Yang that completes it. Together they were a team. Seeing just Count D is heartbreaking to me.

Now I'm crying because I miss Leon.... sniff sniff Darn you author... >.<

the story is good..i would have rated it 9 or 10 if i havent read the 1st one...but count d without leon was like drinking coffee without sugar...you can somehow drink it...but not as good....will never be as good.... i really miss leon....T_T

I like both the original and the new series. Well, for me, the first few chapters in the original was the most attracting. After that... meh... I like them all about the same level. From the start I didn't really like Leon. It's not that I hate him, but I just don't care about him. There are places where he simply ticks me off and I'm on the verge of hating him, whether I ended up did or not, I forgot. Suppose that means I didn't hate him all that much? For me though, all I care about is D lol.

Well, I do like the original series a lil better... but the sequel is just as good =). With the exception I don't really buy the idea of mistaking pets for real human prostitutes.

Read a few chapters and they were okay, but...

...not gonna go on unless Leon comes back. It's been said already, but the strange, ambiguous push-pull between Leon and D was what made Petshop of Horrors really shine. New dude (forgot his name already, or maybe brain rejected it out of spite) isn't a quarter as endearing as Leon.

Now that Leon is gone, I have barely any interest in reading it. The new guy just seems like a replacement because he is in ways similar to him. Count D had more depth to him in the prequel and I loved the interactions between him and Leon. I've only read a couple chapters of the Tokyo series and I have to say that the relationship between D and the new guy is shallow at best. Leon was never mentioned so far (except for the special chapter), so he seems to have been forgotten. So hopefully the mangaka has plans to bring him back again soon.

I liked this sequel, but not as well as the 1st one. The stories are entertaining, and it is a good read. I, like others, miss Leon. This is actually the main reason I like it less than the 1st. Great characters should always be brought back in sequels like this. I do have to recommend this one though, since it is a very good read - especially if you liked the 1st series. I love the blend of horror and comedy. People who haven't read the 1st series will most likely enjoy this as well.

If you liked the first series you'll probably also like this, even though the polar opposite of D (Leon) is gone.
Since the series seems to be ongoing I guess we'll probably see him again though.

Since the OVA series is merely an adaption of the manga series which originally was meant to be a blend of humour and horror I think the rating 2 is a bit of an overreaction but well... we're free to express ourselves.

I got into this thanks to the anime. The manga, however, is nothing like the anime. The mysterious atmosphere is completely gone and is replaced by a lot of comedy.
