I'd say this isn't a bad webtoon. It contains very disturbing themes, but that's what psychological horror stories are all about, no? They're supposed to give you the chills, twist your brain, and make you worry for your sanity whenever you decide to click "next chapter" or "next episode." Killing Stalking has definitely succeeded in doing these.
That said, I do have a problem with people labeling this webtoon as "romance" or Boys Love. What love? I could use a magnifying glass to read each panel slowly and carefully and I still would not be able to see anything but psychological horror. The only ship that exists and has my full support is Yoon Bum x lifetime therapy. That's it.
It was legit horrifying to see so many comments—from different websites—saying how sad the ending was, how Sangwoo deserved a redemption arc, or how Y&S should've stayed together and gotten a happy ending because clearly, they "loved" each other. Listen. Abusing someone mentally and physically is not love, and it never fucking will be. If you think for one second that what Y&S feel for each other is "love," you should call your therapist or consult with an adult you trust. Just please, seek help.
There are people out there who worship and fantasize about being in a relationship with serial killers and I'm over here like time to run away to Pluto I guess 🏃
Stop fetishizing rape. Stop minimizing physical and mental abuse. The only reason people condone Sangwoo's actions and forgive him so quickly is because he's "hot." There's no other logical explanation for it. Give him an ugly face and we'll see how quickly people will do a 180 and condemn his psychotic behaviors.
Sangwoo kills people. He literally kills people, and not in a dark-avenger-punisher kind of way. He takes joy in murdering people for fun, full stop. And Yoon Bum, he's not in love with Sangwoo, he just can't tell the difference between love and abuse. If you read this and your first instinct is to put these two fucked up people together, there is a problem.
Do watch his video if you want to see a more in-depth analysis of this webtoon. Seriously. Part 6 and 7 are especially important.
Do not pick up this webtoon thinking there will be romance. There is not. It's a psychological thriller which depicts severe physical and mental torture, rape, stockholm syndrome, incest, pedophilia, and all that fucked up shit. If you can handle that, go ahead and give it a read. If not, open your To Read list and choose something else to read. Your mental health is much more important than merely satisfying your curiosity.
