I usually avoid shoujo but this seemed to have potential to be a good manga, so i stuck with it.
There are many characters, but you eventually get to remember their names, most of them have distinct faces and the confusion is not as bad as in other shoujo mangas.
The romance was ridiculous in this. Everyone loves someone that loves someone else. But they're mostly friendly about it, even the bad guys. You'd expect a man to fight for the woman he loves, but these guys just lay down and take it when she loves their best friend. This is realistic in individual cases but here they're all like that.
Women are weak. Don't mistake me for some crazy feminist, i'm actually a man, but you can't help observe the contrast. Well, maybe it suits the medieval scene. We do get a woman warrior, however we don't even see her fight. So women in this are meat to advance the plot, they sacrifice themselves or they get randomly kidnapped or killed.
You'd think the main character, Ishtar, would be better, but no. She's a spoiled brat which would be dead in two seconds if not for everyone loving and protecting her, for whatever reason. She's useless till the very end.
Talking about Duzell would spoil things, but let me just say he was really disappointing as the big bad guy. Or even as a vampire.
Almost everyone was a better character than Ishtar and Duzell.
The ending displeased many, and they were right. It was too fast and short for a such a lengthy manga, but it wasn't the worst i've seen. The ride there was enjoyable, and it would have been still for another couple of volumes to tie loose end the proper way.
All in all i do recommend it, it's a fun manga.
