From Kokoro no Oasis:
Tomas is a proud and fearless assassin who has never failed a commission. So what happens when he's commissioned to kill Myra, an immortal vampire?
Oneshot (Complete)
This manga is beautiful! Yes, the art is pretty, but the romance is the most beautiful I've ever come across in a manga. They're both individuals in the relationship (or lack thereof), and are together because they want to be. He has come to love her, and he will respect her wishes, but secretly hopes she'll choose to stay with him. It's truly a fantastic romance.
I recommend this manga to anyone who, like me, is tired of the unhealthy romances in mangas, and older manga readers; you'll appreciate it!
This manga is definitely one of the most heartwarming I've ever read. Some people say that it doesn't have any romance in it but I disagree. On the contrary, it has a lot of love. I mean, this story doesn't have something trivial on love like telling each other they love one another or even kissing. But instead, it has, in a sense that Tomas doesn't want to die and doesn't want Myra to die. Love is in the way he wants to live because she is there. And, love is also in the way of him respecting her wishes on wanting to die. But because she wishes it, he continues to do so in hoping that one day, she hopes not to die, but to live.
I liked every bit of this manga and kept craving for more...They should have made it into a longer series. Introduced characters and such... this had so much potential. But its a major cliffhanger! >_<
Well, art was awesome, and it reminded me Toboso Yana's style. 😀 It was really fun to read, not sth so impressing but cute and meaningful. I was glad that those two weren't "romantically involved" Well, for me they did love/like/care-for each other but it wasnt in that way. Which made it more meaningful - or else it would be a bit annoying. It was a bit rushed - would be better if it was longer I think with diffrent adventures and all 😛 But on the other hand it's shortness was what made the maind idea" stand out" more.
So well, It was good to read 😀
Grahh, it's so frustrating that this is only a one-shot! It had so much potential! Although, to be honest, if it had turned into a series, it probably would have turned into a drawn-out, 30-volume series.
Alright, my musings aside, Vampire to Shinigami is adorable. And cliche. But don't worry. It's cute and funny enough that you won't care that this plotline's been done again and again. The real gem in this otherwise, unworthy of note manga is the dialogue and interactions between Myra and Tomas.
So, if you're interesting a supernatural manga with some romantic undertones look no further. If that's not your cup of tea, stay away.
This One Shot… is weird…even just looking at the summary the manga seems a bit… strange… really bizarre… did I mention the One Shot was odd? Now that you are aware of how much I found this manga to be strange it was however… very good! It was a great read, with many things going for it. Was it a bizarre manga? Yes. Was it a good manga? Absolutely!
Plot- The story is one of a kind, unique, a very interesting take on vampires. Of course this being a One Shot there isn’t much background or that deep of a story and the ending is a bit unfinished, but over all the plot was great (even if a bit strange…)
Characters- Myra was so cute!(in a weird way…) she is so naïve, sweet and loving, which is all kind of strange seeing what her objective is in the One Shot… Tomas is a great character as well, he’s so dedicated, (especially to his job which might not be the greatest seeing as he is an assassin…weird…) and he gets so exasperated at times! Their relationship is… odd…
I mean really, Myra hired Tomas to kill her… how much stranger can you get in a relationship? and yet so fun to read about! They had some really great moments!
Art- The art was wonderful.
Other- The manga could have really been a lot longer, and I kind of wish it was longer. I would have loved to see the characters change and develop through a longer course of time. And the ending of the manga left a lot of things open which I would have liked to see be drawn to a close. The manga could have easily become more than a One Shot, and still be good. I still like it as a One Shot though, but I know some people won’t enjoy it because of the openness of its ending. Throughout my review I stressed the strangeness of the manga; I really think it is quite bizarre. I saw this One Shot a while ago and after reading the summary I immediately thought “Weird…” and that thought lasted throughout the manga. The manga just had this strange feeling to it, not a creepy kind of strange but a bizarre sort of strange, the uniqueness in this manga really shows and I enjoy the One Shot all the more because of that. I definitely recommend this One Shot!
8/10 –Was Good
I'd love to read more. It was certainly interesting in terms of plot and characters. The end left me hanging for more, like seriously D: Characters were likable and the plot defied the usual vampire story and its origin at some point.
With a quirky storyline to boot.
An interestingly different kinda vampire-human story. Did leave a few questions hanging tho. Would've been better off if it were few chapters long to wrap up the uncertainties.
Not bad for a quick, short read tho
