Natsugami Chihiro has always been tormented by his past after he met his first love, hiding in one of the abandoned buildings of his hometown. But the memories weren't all that pretty because the guy disappeared without any word after Chihiro saw him being violated. Years later, Chihiro decided to go back to his hometown to look back and face his past so he could try to move on into the present, with his junior Miyoshi, who has romantic feelings towards him, tagging along.
Natsu ni Tokeru Himitsu no Koi gives you a meaningful plot, diverting from "keep looking foward" by most of the pessimist main characters. Along with its vibe of mystery, and with its slow pace to give thrill to the readers, this is the kind of manga that'll make you read the whole book in one go - or suffer the rest of the day if you happen to have stopped at any of the chapters in between before the main conclusion.
This book focused less on the love story between the two main characters and instead, explored more of the mystery behind Chihiro's first love - making the whole "moving on" theme expressed well alongside with some ups and downs with the main characters' tracking adventure. Still, Fukami Hisato-sensei didn't fail to deliver that sweetness and silliness between their seme and uke with slightest touches, fights and definitely, a few touch of drama and suspense.
If you're in for a good book with a unique style of telling a story, this is gotta be the ice breaker that you've been searching for.
