Description
``The military is a place to earn food. They eat their fill of delicious food!'' During the Meiji era, Chitose, a young man who was suffering from poverty and starvation, was inspired by the fact that he ate leftover food from the army barracks.
Learn about the existence of troops who are provided with three meals a day.
Chitose volunteered to join the 1st Infantry Regiment just to "eat delicious food" and ended up going to war in the harsh Russo-Japanese War.
