Description

In the tough times after the Japanese economic bubble burst, a career woman suffering through the aftermath reincarnates as Keikain Runa, the villainess of an otome game with a modern setting! However, not long after reincarnating, she realizes just how dire a situation her family is in due to the ongoing financial recession. **Currently, read till manga chapter 11.

Very good manga, with a lot of fun economy shenanigans. Very interesting worldbuilding, too. Also, good emotional moments.

Be advised: The plot has a lot of things going on, and you >do< need to pay attention to truly enjoy it! This is not a shut your brain off and have fun one, it's a "Oooh, this scheme is so good! Man, that move sure is smart! I'm glad I'm paying attetion, and thus understood how great the plan is!" one!

Besides that, the art is good, and the interludes have nice slice of life moe moments, which are very cute. The panneling is quite good as well, the pages structure is nice to look at...

Also, the way the mangaka draws pudding made me crave pudding...

Saving chapters for binge reading now tho, if anything else comes up, might update this review. o3o

Heroine is cute and cool, but after first ark every other have unlimited text about financial machinations and trading sleng. And if I skip it, then too little of other plots remaining there.

A mixed bag

There's more good than bad here. But not by much.

This is definitely one of those Mangas that make me wonder if I should just read the novel instead because there is VERY little visual story telling. Dialogue and monologue do 90% of the work while the art is only really there to accentuate the personality of some characters and some visual aids for explanations. The art is excellent, don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful manga, it just adds very little to the experience.

The "theme" for this manga is really just "90's japanese economy". Most chapters I forget this manga even has "otome game" or "villainess" in the title: The only thing that's really there most chapters that is "villainess" themed are the character designs where they do their take on a lot of the staples like the serious butler and blonde villainess, etc.

The protagonist despite being super generic becomes extremely likeable once she settles on what her conflict with "the times" is. Most characters are generally simple in concept but executed well enough and a highlight of the manga.

The biggest problem with this manga and what holds it back real hard for me is how they implement the "japan 90's economy" stuff: This manga treats the economy the same way generic action movies treat guns in the sense that they 100% have the correct appearance of the real thing, the definition and explanation for how it should work is solid BUT the way it is actually shown to work is far away from reality and closer to how I used to imagine things worked back in high-school. I think it's because they go so far out of their way to CORRECTLY explain how a lot of the small moving parts work that I'm bothered by how stupidly the big picture stuff is handled because it is still WAAAAY better than the average villainess reincarnation story where she revives the economy by inventing shampoo in half a page. If you failed highschool economics or can turn off that part of your thinking and are a fan of the concept then I can EASILY see this series at least an 8 for you and a big recommend.

I don't regret giving the series a shot and it didn't feel like a complete waste of time but I cannot imagine reading this chapter to chapter, I think waiting for volumes makes more sense here. I'll definitely give the series another shot after it gets a few more volumes out.

Both the story and the chapters published so far piqued my interest, so much so that I started reading WN in the original language. I really like both the WN and the manga. Although there will be those who will not like it, because there are many financial, economic and political terms in it. But I think it's worth getting into, because we get a very good business management and business empire building story, with very interesting characters.

The author's writing style is mature, readable and prepared. He presents the economic processes very well, it seems that he invested considerable research work into the story.

The fundamentals of the plot model implemented by this work has solid foundations which could lead to a profitable reading experience, in terms of entertainment utility. It is as Kino as the business venture in the form of a cinematic production, bearing the brand of "The Big Short", in terms of it's utility in financial education and entertainment.
