The girl sitting next to me at the start of the new semester is rumored to be unstable, but… is Chihara-san really the "land mine" that everyone says she is?
6 Volumes (Ongoing)

My first impressions of "That Girl Is Cute... But Dangerous?" are that it reminds me of the anime Kubo-san won't let me be invisible. The attitude and character design for Kuroki especially are reminiscent of the ML of Kubo-san. Chihara is like a darker goth version of Kubo. Kuroki's social ineptitude leads to some rather funny interactions. He's written as your typical timid Japanese school teen found frequently in these types of stories, but considering the jarring differences between him and the main star character he's paired with, it doesn't seem repetitive to me. The pacing of the story is slow and digestable. The chapters are rather short, and the story can be seen as being dragged out for too long, as not much in the way of progression occurs between the ML and FL, but taken as small bites this manga can be enjoyable for you.
The scanlation group "Platinum Crown", originally almost entirely composed of one person, during certain early chapters often goofed up with differentiating between past-tense and present-tense participles, and there is a lack of apostrophes and capitalization where needed. Typesetting is inconsistent and spelling mistakes are aplenty, unfortunately. In chapter 2, Kuroki is translated as saying he is "scared of striking people", which carries the meaning of physically hitting them, but contextually this is innapropriate, and I believe the "striking" is meant to refer to "striking a conversation", but it fails to be explicitly used in that sense. On other chapters, the scanlation is adequate and doesn't have any glaring issues. As the series progressed, I started seeing less and less issues, so it seemed to have been only temporary.
I find that the comedy in "That Girl Is Cute... But Dangerous?" stems heavily from the visual. Humor is sparse, but when it does occur, the delivery is quite effective. If you're one for visual comedy, then you'll definintely at least smile. Chapter 21 was especially a "WTF" moment with two overly zealous newcomers to the story fighting over who's the better friend to Kuroki since daycare? The strange and outlandish like this are also used to excite laughter from the reader. Kuroki blurting out what he's thinking when nervous also leads to humorously awkward interactions.
Despite being a manga more simple than others I've read, it got me invested in the two leads and the big moment in chapter 39 got me nervous for what's on the next page. From where I got the chapters, only up to chapter 47 was provided for me, so I think I'll be waiting for this manga to complete before I pick it up again, but I look forward to how the story progresses and reaches its conclusion. "That Girl Is Cute... But Dangerous?" is far from the best in its genre, but its not a snoozefest either, so I'm rating it as being slightly above average, a 6/10.
I really love the facial expressions of the characters. The quirkiness of the male and female lead play well off of each other. I also love the different fashion designs the artist showcases for the female lead.
