Description

the girl's reciprocal confession at the end is literally "I'll love this other guy for the rest of my life haha, but I like you." and the pathetic male lead is somehow satisfied

I love drama. I love comedy. I love well developed characters. I LOVE LOVE LOVE romance, especially slow, realistic romance. Unfortunately, the drama and comedy was relatively childish. Firstly, Kei

does NOT have anorexia, instead, she has a major anxiety disorder and major attachment issues. The degree to which she has developed her attachment issues are not proportionate to the amount of trauma she's endured (if it could be called trauma at all, and if "endured" should even be used in this situation). It's not an adorable personality flaw, it's a major psychological issue. She's clingy and dependent. Kyosuke is petty, if anyone can make a mountain out of a mole hill, it's him. His reason for moving is weak and inconsistent with his otherwise mature personality.

The comedy is childish and mostly involves people hitting each other.

The art is decent. Kysouke looks good 🙂

Overall, it seems like something a middle schooler would enjoy. I've been reading and hoping for something more to come, but the more I read the more I cringe, so I'm giving up at Volume 2, but, like I said, maybe I'm not a shojo girl (The only shojo/josei I read are 07-Ghost and Natsume Yuujinchou).

Overall i liked the combination of elements presented in the story. The characters were flawed, yet likable characters. The fact that Kanzaki was very mature for his age, mentally, worked wonders for the story progression. This is a slow romance, but i didn't feel it was rushed at the end.
My only wished was for one more chapter or oneshot; to see how they are doing after the end, and maybe tie up some of the side characters....

I wanted to review so that I can be one person who disagrees with the complaint of "very slow." In fact I found the character development to be good and natural. Sure Kei comes into her feelings very late but that's part of her whole charm, and the whole plot really. She's bound up by so many complexes. And yeah....truthfully I still don't really get the whole family tree between the twins, but it was sweet and sentimental anyway once you stopped trying to break your head over it.

But by far the most enjoyable part of this manga is Kanzaki. "The bullied type." He's just so adorable in a hopeless dorky way like a boy who hasn't fully grown into bishonen status. I swear he gets taller and more manly as the art moves on until he's finally complete, but even so he is faultlessly kind and clever and glowing through the entire story (y'know after he wraps up his petty little middle-school problem which despite being petty is played out well through him).

All in all I felt thoroughly immersed reading this and the twists were never overly predictable. The ending was satisfying and there wasn't a single character I didn't want to see happy. A gratifying 10/10 to boost it's rating!

Although it is kinda slow, it was really an enjoyable read! I loved the characters, especially Kanzaki and Suwa. Really strong characters and the whole mysterious past idea was simply brilliant! Overall, I'm glad i read it 🙂

First off, let me say I adore Banri Hidaka's art. It's just so gorgeous, clean, and elegant. Kei is so cute, I just love her character design <3. Anyway, none of the characters look the same (like other mangakas who just slap different hair styles on the same face and body), and even compared to her other mangas, there are only similarities, no clones. Well, except the twin brothers, Saito and Rihito, but they're supposed to look the same. She's also great at drawing different expressions and emotions. I would totally read her manga just for their art (don't even look at the words, just stare at the gorgeousness of the art).

Now, the plot/characters. Not only is this pretty to look at, it's wonderful to read. Some may think it's slow, but I think it's fine! I like how the mangaka takes time to develop the characters and their feelings, and I think she was really successful at making her characters deep and realistic. The protagonist and side characters all have a lovable quality, and are all well developed. None of the characters are annoying at all! It's funny and light, but has deep moments and drama. It's not just boy meets girl, girl gets boy, trouble comes and goes, the end. This just makes you want to keep on reading, when the events slowly unfold. It's really gripping, but it's also not action-packed or anything.

Overall, I think it's just a well-balanced, awesome manga that I 100% recommend to anyone who likes shoujo! If you like fast stories, though, this isn't for you. It's slow, but not in a bad way. I love this manga so much! 😀

Love the story, but...

Hitsuji no Namida is a good story. The main character is realistic, yet deeply conflicted, and the characters around her have similar backstories (though, at times, the conflicts seem very petty).

My problem with this manga is that it's super slow and hard to follow at times. There's a basketball competition that goes on foreverrrrr, during which I really stopped caring about the plot in general. It never really picks up. Only for people with a lot of patience.

I really love this manga. It's very thought provoking, but sorta simplistic in a way, but don't get me wrong, the characters are all interwoven in a complex way. I love the plot, it's very...detailed. There are a lot of twists and surprises, but they all make some kind of sense, you think; "Yes, i get how that could happen' and 'ohh...that explains the..."
It's good and well thought out. I highly recommend it.

I barely made it through the first chapter of Sekai de Ichiban Daikirai, but I'm really, really glad I gave this one a try! It's probably my favourite manga; I loved it enough to go out and buy all the available volumes. The drama is compelling, it's got some really funny and heart-warming moments, and the art is pretty easy on the eyes. I actually love the slow pace; it gives the story a nice slice-of-life feel.

That said, I'm pretty disappointed with the CMX editions. I'm willing to overlook the typos, but the naming inconsistencies (it's 'Training Club' one moment, then 'Service Club' the next) and mistranslations (Saito's stepbrother Shinogu is first mentioned in chapter 3, but for some reason CMX's translator thought he was a girl) are really annoying. Sometimes even the text is placed in the wrong speech bubbles!

I hope CMX shapes up with the next 4 volumes, especially since I won't have the Impossibility/Completely Oblivious scanlations to refer to.
