This manga starts out as others do, but instead of only using it to get the plot going, you learn it's already been part of the plot as you read on.
There isn't a lot of variety in terms of world building, but what it does provide it goes to great lengths to flesh out. Thus, the story comes across as very focused and intentional when you take a step back and look at the overall picture.
The plot's "i"s are dotted and "t"s crossed, though it's told in a more roundabout way and in between discussions about other things. The chemistry and friendships between the characters is written extremely well, with a facade of the gag actually working because of how depressing their situation is.
So far there aren't any plot holes, and it looks like the author of the original story, the author of the manga, and the artist all care deeply about telling a quality story.
I've seen some people complain about the gag of being bad with directions being taken too far, but that's, in my opinion, failing to read the context. Yeah, it's annoying sometimes, but it makes sense within the story for it to happen.
I hope this story gets the positive recognition and good sales it deserves, at least if the quality and attention to detail remains as good as it has up to chapter 22.
