I'd like to start off by saying how much I loved this webtoon. The running jokes never get too old (Seulgi and his otaku-ness, Jinsol and her demerits, Dabin and her masochism) and the art is impeccable (but heck, they really don't look like high schoolers LOL). The punchlines were perfect everywhere. I give this a 10.
But here comes my serious rant...
The storyline and the subject matter is NOT supposed to be funny at all. The premise behind the story should be serious -- MC wanted to die and multiple peoples' lives were ruined. It became very apparent that everything was a freaking joke, and that it should be taken that way (the level of violence and brutality was at inhumane levels). I appreciate the lighthearted comedy, but everything ended up being incredibly fake (that is, the experiences of the people being bullied is oversimplified). Everything looked stupid, and I really didn't like that.
Although the point was for Ancheol to get character development, this only really happened at the end when the 4th FML incident was happening. So for much of the story, we see Ancheol belittling Jinu the spirit and how flippant he was about everything.
Also, Jinu the spirit was a really useless spirit. It didn't get revealed until the end that he also didn't know how the curse worked, but throughout the entire story, it felt like he was a "God" character (since it seemed like he was controlling everything). Yet he was not omniscient, so his character (who I thought was all-knowing) ended up looking really stupid whenever he talked with Ancheol.
Seems like I have a long list of grievances, but like I said in the beginning, I do love this webtoon! Just don't take it too seriously and enjoy it, hahaha.
