Description

Refreshing then it wasn’t

Loved how it started how by subverting the typical tropes. Great way to write a cliche and have it still be fresh. The plot wasn’t anything crazy but the switched gender roles was really what made this comic shine. However. Plot was rushed and went off the rails, they fell in love way too quickly, and what is up with Rubiana and her sister. Like, it’s fine if you have a duty to the Empress as a Duchess, but why couldn’t Louie and she have first spot on her priority list. I just think it’s really sad that Louie has to live out the rest of his life knowing that he’ll never be as important to her as her sister. Also loved Ludante mostly, wish he had more screen time and that we’d seen the second child.

But it was ok. ML considered himself and literally behaved as a damsel in distress. He is more feminine than most FLs in other novels.

I'd originally given this story a 10 because it was really well-written with interesting characters and I liked how there's a sort of gender-reversal from your typical time regression plot, with the male lead being the one who died and came back and the female lead being the really powerful Duchess who protects him.

As the story went on, though, I started to hate Rubiana, the Duchess. What is up with her ridiculous loyalty to her sister? Frankly, it's really off-putting. I held out believing there would be some character growth and Rubiana would start to rebel against her sister's control, but this does not happen and the male lead just keeps getting hurt as a result. What was even the point in matching him up with Rubiana if she was just going to continue to uselessly be her sister's puppet?

And don't even get me started on promising your child to the temple like you can just selfishly decide its future like that. Rubiana promising her child to the temple was just a quirky character thing in the beginning, but there's been zero character development so now it's just disgusting.

It’s good and unique, ml is the one that was reincarnated and knows the future, fl is the badass, poweful one. FL has a sister and fortunately they have a good relationship unlike the usual stories… Until the part where it was revealed that she’s meddling between her sister and the other duke with the eyepatch, I was a bit disappointed because I also like that one duke. Also I hope she didn’t become a tyrant, even though she’s kinda becoming one, she’s very scheming.
