The first season is more realistic than the second. Not that the second is bad, but it was way more focused on Nari, and the overall vibe was flashy.

Kinda Like 'Sket Dance'

I kind of view the long running nature of this high school comic to be kind of like "Sket Dance" by Shinohara Kenta but from a young woman perspective. Nari is always trying to help students, and constantly learns about the limits of that and ways to improve. The comedy is less slapstick than Sket Dance, but its still just as outrageous at times. (How is that not the motto of sket dan club.) I read this comic on and off, but I will probably finish it feeling fuzzy feelings in my heart. The story has so many moments of sadness, cheer, difficulties, and triumphs.

This is high recommend.

Great Character Development

Previous commenter to me just seems like a hater and perhaps also a misogynist.
Anyway, before getting into the story, I think I have to add a caveat that my review is done with the benefit of having already read 300+ chapters of this series. The art drastically improves over this time, and there is a ton of character development as well.
As some people have noted, the first season of this series is almost entirely about female friendship, and the different forms it takes, while the second has more explicitly romantic themes. The progression does make a ton of sense because the main character at the beginning of the series has such a strong inferiority complex, it would have been impossible for her to hold down a relationship. Throughout the series though, you see her learn to confront her past and take hold of what she wants in the present--- it's a very moving growth arc though slow at times. (It is still a slice-of-life type webtoon).
Things I love about the series: Focus on female friendships, depicting character flaws and bullying in realistic ways, resolving conflicts between young girls in realistic ways, the "warmth" of the series aka all the feel-good moments after the drama build-up

Reasons you wouldn't enjoy the series: 1) if you can't stand girls being annoying in any way--- most of the conflicts in this series are between girls and there is a huge breadth of personalities and conflicts... it is not strictly a light-hearted slice of life series. 2) if you dislike unreliable narrators; this story, though it has some POV changes is pretty much exclusively told in 3rd person limited POV. 3) if you dislike complex characters. I would say the closest character to being a stereotype is Yuna, but she is fleshed out a TON over the series. It's very easy to read the series from the beginning and think wtf, but there are hints and clues as to how things have ended up in the present (it's all addressed at some point, but that is much later in the series). 4) if you're an impatient reader--- this series is one that really grows on you and grows with you. It is not the kind of series where everything gets magically resolved or people change overnight.

All this to say, I'd give it a try if you enjoy found family tropes/strong female friendship.

1st part is amazing, 2nd part with the romance...also amazing!

The 2nd part receive a lot of flack due to it focusing on romance more, and believe me, I was also one of those people who weren't on board with it...

But the thing is, I love the second part. It's great! The two love interests are interesting, fleshed-out characters. The relationship developments are not rushed or forced, but gradual and impactful. And above all, Nari's characterisation isn't sacrificed for the sake of a romantic plot, she's still the Nari we know and love. It does all of this while still remaining extremely engaging and entertaining!

Though, I think the only main gripe people have with this part is that it tends to shift the spotlight to Nari and we see fewer insights on Mirae and Seonji.

However, I liked the fact that we were able to focus on Nari more in the 2nd part!
Since because of it, we're able to get a clearer view of how much she has developed and grown as a character.

And lemme just tell you: it's SUCH a contrast to early part 1 Nari!

For example, we see of how 2nd part Nari still can cry and becomes stressed about things, but then she deals with it and fights back!

(There might be a misinterpretation that I dislike Mirae and Seonji because of liking the focus on Nari: no I love them lmao, I do miss their insights but the focus on Nari is giving us so much too. Mirae and Seonji focuses are definitely gonna come back once Yuna comes back...! Gosh I miss Yuna lmao)

And yeah, that's that! I might go back and edit this to perhaps word it better, as I really want to convey that the second part is genuinely great. Do give it a try!

Great character development; fantastic read

It's fantastic and worth the read. The growth the lead female characters get is incredible.You find yourself sympathizing for even some of the antagonist's as well. I've read about 270 chapters so far and I've enjoyed each and every one of them.
The current arc has a romance focus but even that is very well done, just as well done as the friendship arcs. There's an eventual love triangle but it feels very realistic and non-toxic. Plus you'll grow to love the FL so much that you won't mind. It's kind of like this other webtoon called Yumi's Cells. At the end of the day we are rooting for her the most (well her and her best friends too), it's her and her friend's happiness we're invested in in the story. Because that girl has gone through a lot in the story.

First season was literally focused on friendship, self growth, and maturity in a way that it tackled the realistic scenarios that people can relate to. The friendship route here is precious, Nari may have started with them rough because of doubts and insecurities but they ended being her support that built her self worth. I enjoyed reading this since the fl is so funny and her character development is what made me like her even more. She learned from her past mistakes, she became emotionally stronger, learned how to stand for herself and gained self confidence as she realize that what others think doesn't matter as long as she have herself as well as the people who truly loves her.

The second season is what makes the story interesting as Nari have 2 love interest here but we all know who her end game is 😏 Their love and hate relationship is cute. Also, I like how Nari doesn't get swayed easily anymore in spite of her being a sucker for good looking guys.

(before people jump me, this is just my opinion)
I really liked it, at the beginning. Nari was very relatable (i guess) and the comedic timing was just great. Her feeling of inferiority was both kinda sad, but also hilarious (it was used as comedy relief sometimes)
It was just a funny slice of life that explored friendship. I liked that.
The real tragedy of the show is when suddenly, Nari starts thinking about romance, and then it just devolved imo. It became a touchy-feely story about lookism and self-esteem and a bunch of other stuff, and i wish it would've just stayed the same, but it didn't sigh 🙁

Admittedly, the first few chapters were a bit iffy (though it could just be because the first review planted some seeds of prejudice into me lol), but it genuinely solidifies after we get over Nari's inferiority complex. It doesn't wholly disappear at once but instead is made so that her character development and how she values her friends are more drastic but subtle.
There's also quite a bit of melodrama that lasts a considerable number of chapters per arc, but they always end heartwarmingly and the four's friendship is concrete despite some rough patches around the beginning. The main characters are lovable even if they can be frustrating one way or another. You can see how they grow to care for and defend each other. They each have their own role in the group, which makes for an entertaining dynamic.

Four high school girls become friends, despite their different backgrounds, storys and personalitys.
Will experience high school strugles while we get to know the story of each of them. Even secondary characters.
Its funny, the romance is REALLY tiny, and the friendship betwen them is the BEST part. Trusting each other is something they'll have to learn.

Second season here. I can add that bullying takes places in different forms and its handled in interesting ways. The characters grows and while a lot has happened, yes there is more romance, but its trule cute and funny.

I have to remark how amazing Nari is as a main character. She is that character to whom we might relate, grows so much during the webtoon: sha has her flaws, but reflects on her actions and never dissapoints me as a the lead.
