Disclosure: I am not a girl, nor am I the target audience.
I picked this up on a whim and its... o... kay... at times...? The characters are outright psychopaths to the point that the story will repeatedly remind the reader how and why they are in depth.
The first "arc" is even dedicated to the fact that the main character is socially isolated BEFORE the story starts to the point that she literally cannot see social/cultural norms. Bullying, throwing away her pride to be a pet, multiple assassination attempts, none of it phases her because it shouldn't. When you're raised in isolation for 16 years, as long as people are finally paying attention and talking to you, who gives a fuck?
But you might be thinking, 'thats just the main character! The side characters will be what drives the story!'
Unfortunately, no. The cast gets exponentially huge with multiple factions, entire kingdoms and nearly every character has a sentient weapon (capable of transforming into humans of course). The cast ultimately gets overly large to the point that most of them simply don't matter. Not only do they not matter, the ones who DO matter and DO get attention are similarly psychopaths. If the main character gets raised in isolation, then the side characters get raised in smothering expectations with the understanding that they don't matter but they'll still be expect to rule entire nations.
