Fairly early on while reading this, I did start to wonder whether the author had some serious issues in some manner or other that affected the writing. Theories ranged from the author just not giving enough clucks to the author being multiple people (Looking at the series' info page tells me that there's indeed multiple authors(unless it's the same author just listed with another pen name as well, in which case it's back to square 1 on the guessing board...)).
The reason I state this, is because one of my earlier thoughts was "This seems fairly well thought out". Sadly, I was rather quickly also made to think "The cluck, that doesnt make sense for anyone with more than 1 brain cell..."
You may notice that these things seem to be two rather mutually exclusive things. And I'd agree with you. So, somehow, the author does some things fairly well thought out, yet, neglects other things so hard, I'd put them at the same level as bottom tier manhua authors, at best. A massive contrast. My leading theory was that there were two authors that wanted to write two different kinds of stories, but neither felt confident about writing a whole one and that one of the authors had A LOT more experience and/or talent.
After finishing season 1, I must say that this should not be tagged Josei. Dragon Ball is more Josei than this. Strong words, I know, but it's to emphasize the point.
Other than this, it falls into basically all same traps as so many of these fantasy romance manwhas do and I just can't be bothered writing more.
