I really loved this story. His attitude and how he travelled back and forth everywhere, going from one place to another and meeting new people for a new adventure lasting several chapters each was just so damn good. My score, however, doesn't reflect the last several chapters and the ending. As you might know, the ending was extremely, extremely rushed(the source material, the novel, is still ongoing though). I guess it's good that they managed to finish it up as nice as they did given how abruptly and in the middle of the story it ended. If I had to factor in the last part, I'd have to give it a score of 7/10, but I won't do so since I don't feel it's right for a manga adaptation that was axed.
This mc is kinda special. He's assumedly from japan, at least his consciousness is, but he has no memory of that place and he's something of a child-like adult, he knows nothing and is always eager to learn more, not being tainted by the world. He grows visibly as he goes along. We have none of that cliché mc bullshit, this guy just does whatever he fancies as he tries to experience the world and learn. He has no complicated thoughts either, but he's not stupid.
I usually hate naive mcs that are too kind, too much of a doormat or just plain moronic. This mc is kind, but not overly so. He's not really moved by normal emotions. He has no huge feelings for anything that happens, yet he still feels a drive to go on. He "sacrifices" himself many times over the course of the story, but since he's just possessing some random bodies, it makes sense and isn't idiotic like it would be if a normal mc went along trying to do the same. When they die, he feels pretty much nothing for them, except one or two where he just kinda says "sorry this happened, maybe there was a better way", he even let the animals he possessed eat the previous possession.
It's hard to explain why I liked this so much, but it's just the general mood and events going on. How he's not really bound down anywhere yet still has relations to everyone. There's nothing much to think about, no real romance, nothing. The mc never cared about things like that, he really seems to have no real motivations whatsoever except for experiencing new things and helping people on his way.
Give it a try, you might be surprised. By the way, the cover does not do it justice. Urgh, it really looked like garbage.
