Description

Riding high on the memory of a boy named Hikaru with whom she spent a day during her last year of grade school, Megu went through middle school without romance. Now that she's a high school student, she has decided she is finally completely over her first love and can look towards the future. But! Megu meets a pretty girl on her first day of high school who gives her a big hug, and her name is Hikaru?!

Note: this manga is currently on hiatus due to its author's copyright infringement. There has been no notice since June 2012 about its re-appearance.

So almost exactly two years later, I read someone mentioning this somewhere and think to myself "Oh yeah, what DID happen to Prism? Because it certainly didn't end. Why haven't a I downloaded a new chapter since 17th April, 2012?" haha 😛
In my defence, it's officially just on hiatus. Completely forgot about that alleged tracing scandal.
This was a very nice yuri. My memory is a little vague at the moment, especially as I'm sleepy, but at the moment I'm not sure if I can recommend this to just anyone. Perhaps you should be slightly inclined to the genre first...? Then again, I'm pretty sure this was one of my first shoujo-ai/yuri series to read. Apart from a handful of one-shots, I can't think of any such series I read before this besides Girl Friends and Sasameki Koto. And this is quite different to those two...

I think I may be rambling due to my exhaustion... >.>

STORY: The Story line is not incredibly unique, but it manages to stay far away from many yuri & shoujo cliches. You can tell where the story is going from the start, but it isn't super predictable and actually managed to surprise me a few times. I found it extremely realistic and interesting, especially the homophobic scenes that so perfectly showed how several citizens in society act towards Girl/Girl relationships today.
ART: I Absolutely ADORED the art. The Art is so crisp and clean and moe and it adds character and atmosphere to the manga. Shou manages to draw Hikaru so well, and make all the characters look different, albeit similar (moe).
CHARACTER(S): Hikaru and Megu are the main characters, as well as the main focus of the story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the light, fluffy relationship between the two. Although their personalities may not be super duper entertaining, THEY ACT LIKE REAL AND REASONABLE PEOPLE - instead of superhuman arch-types that have been reused over and over and over again. Yes, NO COOKIE-CUTTER CHARACTERS! Cheers
ENJOYMENT : From both my rating and my review, you can probably tell that I loved it. While some parts may have been confusing, and some side characters could have been further developed, it still provides us with a great story, main cast, and beautiful art. (Also, keep in mind that this manga is ongoing). This manga is outstanding, and is a MUST READ.

Pretty decent

Art is cute and the story of two first year high school girls is pretty decent. The flow of the story feels a little off at times, kind of like its skipping scenes. A few good realistic moments help to balance out the comedy and the flirting. Has more energy and excitement than a lot of other yuri I've read that tends to go agonizingly slow or is too fast and short. Seems to be a little controversy surrounding some of the art which seems to be why its on hiatus. Its a shame and I hope that its not on "permanent" hiatus and will return in the future as I would like to see where this story goes.

I like this manga and the story is pretty good, but it's somewhat awkward to read.
I don't know if it's writing, translation or something else, but it feels like the frames are kind of disconnected with each other. Instead of typical and comfortable manga flow.

Loli Yuri manga

Here is Higashiyama Shou's first attempt to create a non hentai lolicon manga: it is an yuri manga. Shou isn't able to, or doesn't want, avoid the main characteristic of his previous works, the lolis. He bumps up a little the age of the girls, then instead of grade schoolgirls we have middle schoolgirls, first year though, so he can keep them looking exactly alike his usual loli girls. To avoid the hentai stigma, he keeps sex at the bare minimum, even less than in mangas from authors used to make yuri genre mangas. Shou's fans are certain to be disappointed because of how light this manga is. Regarding the plot, it is interesting to see a major hentai author trying his hands at something (almost) non hentai. He is one of the few hentai authors that tries to deliver a fairly decent plot for his stories and now, outside his main genre, he creates a surprising good story around two girls in love. Of course this is not something on the same level as Octave for example, there is more focus in comical situations than in conflict, angst or instrospection, however these are there in a small amount and even there is a bit of prejudice too. So, Shou was able to deliver an acceptable yuri manga, with the flavor of his lolis, and his above than average pencil skills to make the stuff more tempting.

i've never read a yuri manga before, i just read this out of curiosity (and boredom).

but i have to say i really really like this manga. the story is very well written, the comedic moments are very funny, and the characters are realistic, and all have their own distinct personalities (i love how the girls actually talk like real teenage girls, it's refreshing). i found it cool how even though i'm not a lesbian i could relate to the main characters really well.

it's just a really good manga, whether you're into yuri or not. i don't think i'll be reading much more yuri in the future (i'm more a yaoi kinda of girl lol), but i'm definitely open to reading yuri by this mangaka.

i wasn't too keen on the art at first but it definitely grows on you. by chapter 2 i loved it.

Unmatched cuteness

Admittedly, I've only read some shoujo ai before, actual yuri manga usually didn't interest me all that much. This manga, on the other hand, is absolutely wonderful. At the time of writing this is the #1 rated yuri manga on the manga updates website, and for a couple of reasons.

The story itself, the pacing, the drawings, the characters & their development, the portrayal of homophobic behavior of some outsiders; this manga offers a lot and doesn't let you down.

Other than that, if you like to be grinning and having a manga embarrass you non-stop, I can't recommend this enough. Super lovable.

Prismatic Colors to the Black and White World

...is how I would describe my impression of this fine yuri series. With Megumi and Hikaru being the prism and the light, respectively, it is the development of their relationship and interaction as two maidens in love that brings forth the prismatic colors to the black and white world through its straightforward story and sincere characters.

Executed with finesse, the storytelling here is brilliant. Not a single page is misused: flashbacks are intricately woven in for context and to compliment the narrative; panels are laid out with deliberation and scenes are framed from viewpoints that truly seize the moment; and subtle actions by the characters convey significant thoughts and emotions.

Best of all, the author does not disappoint us with his excellence in the art of showing two girls locking lips!

For those who are interested in yuri, I recommend that you start with this relatively soft series first.
