The poor translation available is not helping at all, since this series is text heavy. The plot isn't actually intelligent though. Having a lot things being said, while none of them are interesting, surprising or of any value is just tiring.
The story structure is also bad because the motivation of the MC and his actions are just bizarre. After the prologue, the MC supposedly has two important goals that one would consider urgent, but he just goes on side quests out of boredom. There is no real urgency in his actions, does he not actually care ? It makes one dislike the MC.
Probably best to skip this one.
At first I thought it had interesting setup with the MC going off to rescue his kidnapped childhood friend but then as the MC returns he decides to just start sticking his nose into random people's business and going off and beating people up instead of going to look for his childhood friend.
Characters are extremely bland spouting the same old cliched lines, basically the characters are all just caricatures.
It's like a 5 year old kid's impression of what a wuxia is.
Really disappointing.
I like this series really, the MC needs a bit more development in certain areas. For instance, he only has one ability and it triumphs over everything so he is kinda stagnant. It’s shamploo like with persuit of the enemies he’s never seen. I’m curious as how he intended to deal with ppl who could harm his master?
Pros:
-decent world-building
-nicely drawn action scenes
-good pacing
Cons:
-…it’s one of those stories where you can’t describe the characters’ personalities at all. Pretty much everyone feels the same, with “goals” and alignment but no “personality”. After reading 57 chapters I can confidently say that I feel about as attached to the main character as to any sort of random dude that appeared on the street in the comic.
Overall: there are hopes for improvement. The comic’s shortcomings are most likely caused by lack of feedback, not lack of skill. With a good editor or comments from readers, this could easily improve. As for now, I’m not exactly sure if it’s a series I’d recommend tho
