This is NOT an average transmigration into a novel's villainess story.
To explain more would be to spoil the story. I've never read anything like it.
This story also put the novel's original heroine as the main antagonist, and our MC into the novel's antagonist position, which is a set up I generally enjoy. However, unlike what is asserted by the title "I've Become a True Villainess", she did not actually continue the role of novel's villainess after her transmigration. That's usually how it goes with these stories, so meh. BUT WAIT. There is a twist to that situation (major spoiler tho), so don't be too disappointed about her not acting like the villainess character!!!
The ML is the "cold and dangerous to everyone, but warm and loving to FL" type. He's OK and surprisingly not really a large player in the greater plot, until the end. And even then, his role there is not what I would call "active".
because he's lying down
If his copy+paste SIMP character archetype was more in your face, I'd find it hella annoying.
I would say that the romance is not the main or driving plot. It's definitely there and affects things, but secondary to the broader picture (until the ending).
Don't read the following if you're happily reading the story!
If you're thinking of dropping the story here's a teaser spoiler:
She finds out that she didn't isekai into a novel. There is no novel.
And if you're thinking of dropping after that, here's another teasing spoiler:
The actual villainess also believes she isekaied into a novel.
Update: I found the ending unsatisfying. General description on why:
Rushed ending, and I didn't really understand what was going on. New revelations outta nowhere, confusing explanations, sudden resolution from one scene to the next. Felt like whiplash, leaving me going "huh?". Pacing way off, and it all seemed abbreviated. Most things quickly resolved in the last chapter.
Changed my rating from 9 to 7.5. I'm curious if the novel has the same issue.
