I love death metal, brutal death, and grindcore, and I couldn't get into this manga. To me, it felt like the author had a very elementary understanding of extreme music and took stuff from 10 different subgenres, threw them in a blender, and then ran with it. I get that it is supposed to be a satirical take on metal, but that only works when the author has a solid grasp on the subject matter. If this was written by someone super into the culture of extreme music, this could have been great, but I just didn't get that feeling from what I read, bummer.

I apologize for those who like this, but I wouldn't touch this manga with a 10 meter stick. I'm one of those people who just simply can't put up with bad art. Even if the storyline is good or the jokes funny I just...HATE bad art in manga. Call me shoujo-art-obsessed-troll-who-can't-appreciate-this-or-any-other-manga-with-unique-art-who's-gonna-miss-a-lot-for-not-giving-this-manga-a-chance for all I care

At first I looked at the cover, I saw this guy who looked really funny. At my library, most of the books are just stupid things about emos or shojo with horrible drawings and story line. Though, I always try to see what the things are about. When I looked into the manga sometime after words...IT BLEW MY MIND!! i was an idiot for not reading it earlier. It is by far the funniest manga I have has the pleasure to read.

next would be gintama 🙂

giggle After wondering so long how people could laugh because of this (slightly) amusing manga, I've found out myself.
Chapter 5 just makes me laugh..... that's so funny laugh & so stupid! Of course the chapters before were hilarious, but not for me. Remember please: Not everyone likes such stuff.

You want to know what's so funny about this? Sorry, I can't explain it. It's pretty much a loser being misunderstood greatly or in other words: His deceiving everybody.
But it's amusing/hilarious; even if his lyrics are VERY crappy. I don't listen to heavy metal music, but my best friend does and I've already heard some kinds of lighter metal. And I also had the pleasure to get a little heartattack while watching the beginning of the opening in the second arc of Death Note! 😉 Even if it's metal, please watch the lyrics a little.... 10 times "rape" in a few seconds.....okay! That's no (real) problem. But it truly gets UGH if that's one of the better things in the lyrics......

The art was better than expected - no really, I expected the worst! One look on the cover and you think: Wtf, this manga has to live on story & comedy. But it's not really that bad.
I've read worse. But if you're truly picky on the art, give it some thought whether to read it or not. One little peek on v8 tells me the art isn't going to get any better. Well, and there doesn't seem to be any story. I couldn't see anybody mentioning the story till now, so I just guess there isn't one. If somebody mentioned it, I'm sorry. I just look through it quickly...

By the way, I seriously wonder whether to reccomend this anybody or not.... guess you just need to read the first chapter and find out whether you like the humour or not!!

Probably the funniest manga I've ever read in my whole life, every chapter makes me cry laughing X'D X'D X'D X'D X'D

In addition, it refers to real music scenes (the pop bands that Negishi love are real, one really does sometimes play with a tambourine) and parody them pretty accurately (well, maybe dumbed-down accurate XD and magnifies the stupidest parts of them).

The manga is also a lot better than the live action movie, although the movie is actually not bad and pretty funny too, given the limitation that humans can't say "rape" 3897520 times in 1 second XD

I really like how the protagonist is like the polar opposite of the lead singer he plays. I couldn't stop reading and before I knew it I was already on chapter 50+. It's perversely funny.

Simply hilarious. The best parts are when he completely humiliates an opposing band on stage. Be careful when he starts singing that swedish pop crap tho.... truly scary stuff.

Poor Negishi. He needs to realize the inherent evil in his music and become the Death Metal God everyone is pushing him to be. If you ever see the movie or the OVA, watch out for his pop songs. They truly are some of the most horrid things ever created.

This manga is absolutely hilarious. Don't be put off by its art. In fact, the art is one of the best things about this manga. Negishi (aka Krauser II) is hilarious in his efforts in juggling the persona of the leader of a heavy metal band and that of a street musician trying to make it as a bubblegum pop star. The situations he gets himself into are just LMAO along with the reactions of his fans. The rest of the characters are all quirky and funny in their own ways. This manga is a must-read!!!

Edit: the later chapters don't seem to be as funny as the earlier ones. Maybe the jokes and situations have become a bit too familiar. Hopefully later chapters will incorporate something new.
