If only this spoon wasn't given to the MC, then we'd all be spared this frustration of watching him go through the turmoil of using or not using the spoon.
Yes it's a journey that he has to go through, but it ends up being such a tiresome rollercoaster where he fluctuates between "I hate being poor, I wanna be rich" and "I love my family". He wasn't even smart about his choices, and he kept wallowing in self pity and despair.
To be fair, this webtoon caricatures everybody conveniently so that the rich people are all snobby jerks (except for Taeyong and Juhee, bless them) and the misfortunes are neverending for Seungcheon and his family. But still, he's not deserving of any sympathy.
Speaking about the storyline "conveniences" (how everyone and everything is so hateable) -- because it's all so overly-dramatized, the entire story becomes much less believable and enjoyable. Poverty is portrayed in a way to make readers sympathize about the unfortunate circumstances, but also to realize what is "truly important" in life -- the problem is that the story really made me so impatient and frustrated that I couldn't stand it.
Well, I did find it interesting to watch the MC age and grow old. Most stories only do one timeskip and that's it, but it was nice we saw the characters' full lives.
Although I forgot what the ending was like, I do know that my memory and final sentiments was that I hated the MC for being so dramatic and whiny about his poverty. I do feel sorry for him, but his attitude really ticks you off.
Also, I REALLY hate how the noses are drawn in this webtoon. The art was meh.
