Description

Chapter 16 - DROPPED

Too slow. I also can't stand the Muppet look of the faces. I mean, the art style is still polished and pretty as far as manhwa art goes but the faces and oddly shortened torsos are just too distracting for me. It's as if **everyone ** is wearing Empire waisted gowns. Invisible ones, at that, because even the men have their belts damn near under their armpits. It's such a weird, scrunched up proportion.

I usually enjoy plotty, intricate palace/nobility politics and "bring 'em down and burn 'em alive without 'em knowing until the cathartic confrontation" type manhwa but this one is incredibly boring. It's strangely pedantic without even saying much.

I think "The Villainess Lives Again" is very similar without the FL having to marry the would-be emperor AND has better flow despite being equally dense in terms of political machinations. The emotions are more subtle but no less intense and genuine. Whereas I cannot stand reading about this FL's lingering attachment to the man who'd done so much wrong to her.

She wants to help her asshole hubby become the Emperor again because she wants to tear him down when he's at his highest high. Maybe I'd like it better if her hatred was worn on her face for all to see but then her plot and thought process would never work. It didn't help that she came back the day before her wedding to her murderer, a man she fell in love with whom she desperately pursued in her first life until he gave in, so there wasn't much she could do. It's not like she can 180 and be like, nah, I'm suddenly very grossed out by this man I begged to marry me the day before our wedding.

So, can't quite fault the plan she came up with. How it's executed is another thing entirely.

Feb 2023: I actually thought ML would be the blonde one in the cover, so I didn't think it would be another guy. It's the same fight-for-throne in the palace, and FL was a significant figure in the previous life. She's lowkey now in the present life and they're just calculative and smart with her partner-in-crime. Art may not be pretty enough for you, but they have their own charm. Please give it a shot.

June 2024: If you're in for some royal-political game, with romance on the side, this may be your cup of tea.

Technically, she is cheating on her husband with the duke, but eh.. husband still a sh-t anyway. Just felt bad with the innocent 1st prince.

All in all it was an enjoyable read for me.
