I like how everything is...well, likeable, agreeable.
Its got the right balance, so to speak.
The art is nice and solid. The girls are damnnn cute and well drawn.
There are tons of 'run-of-the-mill battle-manga-with-teenagers' and I'm the type that generally dislikes such a theme - but so far, imo, this one seems to be one of the more nice ones. Typical ones have lame weakling hero who struggles to be stronger and the girls fall for them for lame unjustified reasons.
However, this one has a cool 10/10 anti-hero protagonist, who really knows how to fight; but its not like he's overpowered - no, he is in fact really on par with the other elite fighters. His fights are not always easy and he usually wins by a slight margin thanks to little openings on the opponents' side. Kinda like playing Dark Souls lol. Thus, this makes the series interesting.
The fights themselves too are not so typical and far from being boringly simple. Each move, every action, are well thought of; almost every movement a specific technique (which seems to be based on real-life techniques) and they're carefully explained (the wordy explanations can get tiring but nonetheless interesting). Everything in this series is made with logic, or at least, pseudo logic. Like, there's an explanation how such small girls can exert such force with their swords, and how each person's martial arts style differs, explanation on the different weapon styles and techniques, even the importance of breathing. This shows the author is no slouch - he or she has done his/her research on the subject theme really, really well. This is no brainless story.
Also, it may be tagged 'perverted male lead' and 'cross-dressing' but don't worry: the protag does not crossdress nor bend his gender (at least not yet haha). He's not a jerk. He is not the shamelessly perverted type of pervert either...more like a 'smooth' pervert. ish. Just cool about panties and such - like any normal healthy boy interested in girls but not pathetically desperate about it. He can get flustered when things get more...intimate; usually accidentally - which is ANOTHER thing I LOVE about this series - the very romcom kind of misunderstandings and sudden, accidental intimacy! XD I just love it!
Yes, this series is undoubtedly romantic comedy with a solid martial arts theme. and so far without the typical 'I-and-everyone else wants to be STRONKEST!- kind of boring childish plot. Fyi the ecchi levels are almost non-existent too only one pantyshot and barely some boobs only sometimes; just the way i like it: modest amounts of fanservice (cuz too much is CHEAP). Boob sizes are pretty modest too. Women artists are the best and most sensible 🙂
Also, I just LOVE tsunderes (ESPECIALLY ojou-sama types) and...well...female domination themes (kyaaah~! XD) and this series has like a WHOLE SCHOOL of dominating, extremely proud anti-male oujou-sama tsunderes! XD Heaven!
ALSO there's a bear. and ya know anything with bears in it are AWESOME (Sidonia, Kuma Miko.etc)
I hope its getting an anime because I think this series fits really well as anime.
And that someone picks up the manga again...seriously its GOOD why was it even dropped?!
