I put off reading this manhwa for a while because I'd heard that it was depressing and my brain said nope let's not get depressed today, sir. But I read it anyway.

The main character, Yoon Ai, is a high school student who has to constantly juggle her responsibilities as a top student and the sole breadwinner of her family. Life hasn't been kind to her. Then comes a magician who offers her something good, something she had once held dear and was forced to abandon because reality said no, dreams are for children.

I loved how painfully realistic Yoon Ai is. She's not overly dramatic, childish, or whiny about her conditions. She's a high school student, but she's far more emotionally mature than most people around her.

The art is great and full of symbolism. All in all, this was a wonderful story to read. No wonder the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

P.S. I played these instrumental songs on repeat while reading this manhwa and made the experience ten times better:

Yeah, it’s great with it symbolism and everything. The illustration was cool. However, whatever happened to the magician after the 3 year timeskip and why did the girl no longer have contact with him.

This messed me up real good. No matter how many times I read it, I cry like a baby. At first, I thought it was weird because of how the characters were drawn but the more I read the more it pulled me in. It’s just absolutely beautiful my favorite thus far nothing can top this.

Beautiful criticism of (Korean) society

Ha Il-Kwon has done it again. A coming-of-age story with a lot of veiled criticism regarding the world of children vs. the world of adults, portrayed through beautiful stylistic art. The art is absolutely gorgeous, and it's worth reading for the style of storytelling alone. Theme revolves around adults/children and the creative imagination of "magic" vs. practical adult matters (e.g. finance).

If you do read it however do make sure you read it on the correct website, as some versions actually make significant changes to the original art (the pictures, not just text!!) which can quite affect your experience without you even knowing it.

It's a fantastic story illustrated perfectly.
The author/artist uses visual elects of the story to get some point across such as use of color and character design which I found brilliant. The plot was somewhat hard to dive into however by the end I ended up loving it. This webcomic felt like it was written in a way to make you actually feel like the main character. Like her you want to believe in him(the magician) yet you are as skeptical as she is due to the realities of life and by what society dictates. Usually I hate endings but I wouldn't have wanted a better ending for this, it's just perfect in its mystery.
The final thing I have to say for annarasumanara is that it's a beautiful work of art and imagination with easily relatable points.

the suspense was great and kept me reading although the story was ok. it ended somewhat confusing, although i do get a gist of what it's trying to tell. i guess i was looking forward to romance but there wasn't really any. it's very subtle nonetheless.

I, too, want magic in my life.

This webtoon was the first series ever to make me cry because I realized I was stuck in a similar situation as these characters who don't have the magic in their lives. It was the one story that made me say, "If only I can meet a magician like that." (it gave me hope too). I think many people feel the same as I do.

This manga tackles the question that everyone asks at some point in their lives: Are we really living? Do we believe in the magic of living as who we truly wish to be? Are we happy? Are we free? is our world a world of color, or has it been stagnated by reluctance and fear? ... etc.

Even now, I think I'm still in awe with this series. Kudos to the author. If there is one series that reached the depth of my soul, Annarasumanara is the one.

P.s. This story also manages to be magical with its refreshing art style and heavy symbolism.
