1 Volume (Complete)

Kui's second tankoubon, filled with short stories that made me almost cry. In contrast with her later stories, these are less satire, but appealing to emotion directly. the second chapter about mermaid, 人魚禁漁区 is my favourite. I can't remember well but I already read this chapter on internet before i knew Kui and this book.. Though meaning is clear (compared to Kui's other work) and art is a bit simple still beautiful that reminds me of summer days of youth.
These little stories show all these characteristics, all with a light touch. Even when the story is about something sad, this lady makes it gently moving. The story about the mermaids is delightful. When the storytelling weakens, the art always carries the day.
The first two chapters are a bit too sappy for my tastes. My favourite is the third chapter. It's funny. The fifth chapter is fine as well and feels like a fairytale. I enjoyed the seventh chapter as well for the enjoyable mix of superheroes with a detective. It had it's moments. I was about to stop reading after the first two chapters but I'm glad I read the whole volume.
