I had high hopes for this. How rare is it to find a female alpha X male omega pairing? A strong woman and a cute man? Yes, please! I bought it to support that as well as liking LIAI. To me, it was a bit of a let down.
The good:
•The art is lovely and Do-gyeom is very attractive and wears pretty clothes. All the characters are good looking. I typically don't like girly looking guys but I'm able to let that slide when it comes to Omegaverse stories. Seung-ah (male omega) was really pretty, basically a cute lesbian, lol.
•I liked the female lead. She was problematic and definitely a ho, but her flaws made her fun. She wasn't evil or narcissistic, just made dumb choices anyone could make. (Of course some choices were made to extend serialization, but I digress...)
The bad:
•Personal pet peeve, but why did Do-gyeom have testicles? She's a female, regardless if she's an alpha. The typical Omegaverse infographic shows just a phallus for female alphas. It was weird to see the dangling extras; they don't belong.
•There was way too much BL for a story billed as a josei Omegaverse. I love BL but the needless love triangle between Mujin, Do-gyeom and Seung-ah was distracting. I wish it was two female alpha fighting over the cute male omega; that would've been a very, very fun and spicy story! Oh, I wish she wrote it like that... But I can't blame her for putting BL (sex) in there. All her fans are BL fans and probably don't like HL (hetero love) all that much for whatever reason (like internalized misogyny, for example). Fargo probably felt pressured to appeal to her audience; in fact, she was harassed about it on social media! The gall... And the story suffered because of it.
Mujin was never going to be the endgame
because the MC is Do-gyeom, so having to spend chapters with him and Seung-ah together was grating and honestly just fan service.
• Not enough alpha female sex scenes! There were some in the beginning, but not enough overall, and definitely not enough female on male scenes. This work is basically more of a GL and BL.
•The ending was okay but it felt very rushed. Again, I really believe it's due to complaints and hate towards Do-gyeom so the author gave up. She says she's happy but I doubt it.
I don't regret buying it and maybe a binge read will change my opinion on its quality but it could've been so much better if Fargo kept it strictly josei with no BL. She shouldn't have listened to the naysayers. Anyway, I'm much more enjoying "One Night Only" for my josei, female alpha X male omega fix. It's way better and the FL is an anatomically correct female alpha, i.e. she doesn't have balls, lmao, just a phallus that's pops out during the deed!
