I think I'm honestly just too old for shoujo now lol. So tired of FL crying and tearing up all the time. I just found her annoying most of the time. 🤣
My rating is purely for the art -- so if you don't read it for the plot, at least read it to admire the art! It's so amazing -- and the love of books and literature, which this series captures so very well. I'm a huge romantic in that sense. But towards the end and in certain parts it went a bit overboard with that and the troupe got overused. Meh.
TLDR the art is really good, everything else not so much.
This was tiring to read, but it's decent enough. You can tell how this is a manga that got adapted to a webtoon style, so the chapters are short and get cut at weird spots, but the art is so lovely. The pacing is also very slow, and like almost every character changes their mind back and forth so much that it's hard to keep track of. It gets annoying to read, but rest assured that the character development IS there... towards the end. It does end happily, albeit sort of on a cliffhanger, so there is that much.
If that doesn't clearly explain why this was a 7 for me...
If I think carefully about it, every major character had something unlikeable about them -- I think all except for the editor-in-chief and Hiro's family. Yeah, even the grandpa, and Nanase. Lol.
And... my eyes rolled so hard when Kano found the message that Chiyoka left behind for Saku in her old notebook. How convenient that she actually died of a disease, so that he can really move on from her. Nice cliché. Great timing.
It's not a bad read, but you need the patience to get through all this "character" plot.
