i went through 15 chapters so far, and that's enough to get a feel for this webcomic.
I don't know what was the original intention of the author, but I think they missed the point, unless they wanted a supernatural thriller.
so basically, you have the Moon family, classic chaebol family, with patriarch, his wife and 4 sons. One time the patriarch comes back with a little girl that's his daughter by some femme fatale. And for some reason he insists she has to grow up with with the family.
supporting cast is predictable enough; you have the pallet of different high-class buys and a dominant father.
The wife - obviously - feels dismayed at a product of her husband's affair was brought to the house, but she didnt hate her by any stretch of definition. Sure, she gave her a stern talking to about her place, but that was it. We've seen so much worse in manga... And although she is kept at a distance from the boys, she is never bullied or humiliated. And had the girl been normal, i think she would have fit in eventually.
But that's the main point; Ahrin isn't normal. She is perhaps the best depiction of a psychopath in existence in manga.
Even as a child, we never ever see any trace of human emotions on her; no loneliness, no sadness, no remorse, no wish to fit in, not a thought about her biological mother, never a doubt in her mind about anything.
But from first panel we see that she knows to manipulate her people. In fact, all she does is show manipulation and ambition for power, to devour the family. she also shows great intelligence and knows exactly to which point to push.
even when captured or confronted, she never loses her cool, is never on defensive. she just plows ahead from the first panel she shows up.
In short, she is a classic sociopath, a power hungry creature with absolutely no remorse or ethics.
She reminds me of a coockoo chick, bred and born knowing what it needs to do.
especially when combined with her power, it feels like some supernatural creature sent to destroy the family, and the only one that can see it is the mother.
Since Ahrin is absolutely unrelatable, mom easily becomes the main heroine.
One keeps rooting for her to find a way to remove this demon hazard from her family, and save her sons. One can relate to her angst, and to her motherly love for her children, whom she sees are in danger, although they themselves don't see it.
She does the threat, and she tries her best, but you can see she's just a normal person, and way out of her depth with all this. Which makes her only more relatable.
father is useless, a bullheaded man that for all his supposed superiority, doesnt pick up on anything.
It could have been a good webcomic with this premise, but from the mom's perspective, who now has to protect her family (of oblivious, gullible men) from a young intruder bent on devouring them as an agent of chaos.
But i dont think it is such a webcomic.
The entire premise just leaves bad taste in my mouth.
But from what i can gather, this isnt the manga.
