Description

This is the story of a sheltered, naive, weak girl who is groomed to be a doll who eventually learns to find her footing. The pacing is a slow burn but the greater the payoff if you are willing to endure through it. It's a journey of self-discovery, angst, twists, and human relationships.

Pros

Facial expressions changes are nice when they go from extremely clean looking to repulsively contorted.
The main villain is such a Joker-tier madman that it makes it hard to pinpoint the next development.

Cons

Side characters other than the main villain and the main female lead are pretty standard and predictable in how it'll progress

used to give it a 9, as I was iffy about the emperor already having a wife, but it's revealed later on that the emperor and empress are platonic pals and are in a political marriage or something + the empress also has her own lover

I’ve only read up to chapter 10 for now. Depending on the future plot I say that this isn’t exactly my cup of tea but I’m reading just to see what happens next.

The premise starts with a young powerless girl named Chloe got taken in by a viscount’s family after her mother got beaten to death and was mistreated. Then some time later the silver hair guy (Kairos) who is a distant relative of the viscount came in and took Chloe in and burnt the viscount’s house down after that so I think basically the viscount’s family died (which is deserved considering how they treated Chloe like an animal). Anyway, Kairos groomed Chloe with the purpose of getting her to seduce the emperor. Which is super disgusting in my opinion because this piece of shit literally manipulated Chloe knowing well about her (romantic) feelings for him. And so she succeeded in the end.

I’m assuming that the emperor is the ML but I don’t like him. Reason why is because he slept with Chloe when during that time, he was married to the empress and this story world has a rule where men can only have one spouse. Like just imagine this story being the point of view of the empress. Her husband is sleeping with some woman just because she couldn’t conceive (thanks to someone). I mean, you can tell me that they don’t love each other or sh*t like that but it doesn’t quite sit right with me. Again, this is just my opinion.
Art is okay, not super pretty but just…okay

Not recommended if you are uncomfortable with the themes mentioned in this story. Otherwise you can read it because there’s going to be some revenge plot coming in

So if the kiddos in the comment sections who don't understand what grooming is could stop reading, go back to their Mary-Sues and lay off their victim-blaming the FL, that be swell.

Actual review:
Very heavy topics that the author has so far done justice. A powerless girl getting used as a chess piece for morally corrupt nobles. She gets groomed by an older male relative from a young age on so don't expect this to be a feel-good story, even if the title implies she will eventually get revenge.
The art is really amazing, there are few stories in this genre that have "average" looking characters. Meaning the artists style can portray a spectrum of prettiness and not just "10/10 gods OR 0/10 comically ugly". So it's a breath of fresh air to see a "pretty female lead" who actually looks different from other female characters.

Looking forward to seeing more, but hopefully seeing less of the comments who think it's her own fault that she was groomed as a child...(seriously, wtf is wrong with y'all?)
