So my original biggest issue with this story is the fact there's occasional detailed nudity (maybe 5 panels across 35 chapters). I don't know why, as it only distracts from the story and prevents me from recommending this to anyone I know.
And yes, the modern-looking tech inclusion was a little odd. But for an isekai reincarnation manga, it's honestly very well done... but with one major caveat:
The kidnapping arc, as I will call it, has no good reason to exist. The main character had ways to ensure nothing bad happened and had good reasons for suspecting something bad was going to happen, and he let it happen anyway. It was out of character. Why? Because the author, being a moron, decided they were willing to sacrifice consistency for drama. It's artificial drama once more.
And I think the author knows this, because the author gave the victim an extremely contrived deus ex machina to keep the worst from happening.
Not to mention, the person who set everything up and gloated, approached the main character alone, and the main character did nothing. He could have kidnapped, tortured her for information, and then dumped her dead body somewhere no one would ever see. But he didn't. Why?
Because the author wants drama and is willing to sacrifice the story for it.
Did I mention that two dragons have the victims scent, fly over top of the carriage the victim is in while looking for her, and then keep flying whule the author forgets they had the victim's scent 2 speech bubbles before?
This story had so much going for it, and the overall idea for what the story was doing—where it was going—was solid, but the execution fumbles so hard I just can't not be angry about it.
Had major storytelling sacrifices not been made in order to force the situation, this would easily be an 8.8. But no, the details of this one arc basically break the quality of the main plot. Not quite my suspension of disbelief, and I'll be checking in on this until it completes, but so close it's not funny.
By the way, I normally don't call anyone names, but I am fed up with writers getting paid to write trash or ruin decent stories with artificial drama. If the author isn't ashamed to break their story, they shouldn't have an issue if I call them morons. Maybe if we bring back shame, they'll care more and write better stories.
