Gaslight. Gatekeep. Girlboss.
Arrogant, sassy, dismissive, flirtatious, grabs hold and takes charge. Immediately retaliates in the most vindictive fashion possible at another person if she embarrasses herself. That's right. She's that girl. Don't mess with her. The new Qin Yunge gives as good as she gets.
Same Face Syndrome is severe in this one. I can't tell the grandpas and slightly older men apart. They can be anywhere from 35 to 75 years old. The brothers and love interests including the Main Lead all look nearly identical.
And Miss 19 Year Old Freshness, a beauty who outshines people whose literal job is to be drop dead gorgeous, is a certified genius at:
- Martial arts,
- Hacking/programming,
- Arithmetics,
- Physics,
- Gaming,
- Actress,
- Commercial & editorial model,
- Art Critic,
- Car mechanic,
- Old book/writing restorer/preservationist,
- Strategic warfare,
- Shooting,
- Pro pianist,
- Music writer, arranger and producer?!
- Racing cars? On an official racetrack? The fuck?
Oh. MY. God. LMFAO
She has a super secret, special force/military task group keeping her safe at all times!!!! Except when they break the plot!
Naaaurrrrrr I'm crying, y'all.
Oh, and she was almost offered a professor position at a very prestigious, world renowned university. She declined it.
Like, she canNOT do anything wrong even if she deliberately tried to sabotage herself. I haven't read a Mary Sue as blatantly perfect as this character in awhile. I mean, I've read various others but none of them have come close to the sheer diversity of this character's talent.
It...it's kind of enjoyable.😳
However, Miss Thing refuses to explain who she is. All, and I do mean ALL, the situations are plotted in a way to make it so that she comes out as the winner in the most smirking, sneering, one-liner-spouting, holier than thou, in-your-face-bitch! way possible.
All of the situations definitely would not have as dramatic of an effect if she'd just tell people who she is. But nah. The most melodramatic reveal every few chapters is a must.
I usually adore these kinds of characters but my eyebrows are in my hairline at this point. Just in case we forgot she's Not Like Other Girls! She has no girl friends. Distant, temporary acquaintances, yes, of course. (Oooh, how strange that not a single one of them are as attractive as she is. None.) She has zero close friends her own age.
The translations are all very hard to follow and phrasing is very awkward though. Pacing is horrendous and I have no idea what's happening, where they're at or who did what half the time, as already noted by another review. Oddly enough it adds to the tension and sort of makes her even more bewilderingly charismatic.
