This is a story, at its core, about three things:
- the cycle of bullying and abuse
- appearance versus reality
- becoming a stronger person through your own strength (individual character development and growth)
I honestly love it, with exception of the
almost rape scenes (there are two thus far in 56 chapters), because that shit is awful and very triggery/and the artist really made it creepy, which is good because it doesn't romanticize rape, but at the same time it was awfully shiver-inducing to see those creepy expressions
.
I love the characters he meets, the friends he makes, and the charm of their personalities. I have a personal weakness for nice characters in an unforgiving environment, and honestly MC grows on you, as well as the rest. Seconding Megorova, though: he does a lot of running away at first before he realizes it's in his power to change, that he wants to change.
The main character is a good character with a good heart, and the bullying is very harsh--you'll want, so much, for things to get better for him and the other characters going through it. It's shit to be judged by your appearance, bullying doesn't end (it's a continuous cycle), etc.
It's a great story. (Also really good korean fashion okay the fashion students dress up well lol). But definitely, a huge, great theme on bullying and abuse. Frankly, I think we need more of it.
