Description

Just finished my second read- this one is in my favorites list because smut + actual plot + fantastic art.

There are a lot of similarities between Haunted by Desire and Fate Makes no Mistakes. They share ghosts, spanning multiple time periods, multiple couples, and fantastic art.
Fate is not finished but sitting near a perfect score in my brain, while Haunted has some faults. But, I think if you like one you'll like the other- especially because I think they both are quite unusually plot-rich for BL.

The above is for the main story. The side story makes like no sense. At this point I'd say skip it.

Interesting amd enjoyable, but the big picture is messy

There's a lot to like in this work, especially in the beginning. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say that it continues far beyond what's indicated in the summary.

It's an interesting concept, and manages to be cute, sexy, and creepy all in the same art style. I was really invested in the original premise. As it goes on, however, it became difficult to follow. Sometimes there's a big jump in setting without any transitional panels. A few times, I didn't realize I was looking at different characters until they used each other's names, because their designs are all so similar—and occasionally inconsistent. This is a big problem in a story about a ghost who looks like someone else.

But even if the big jumps were better demarcated, it would still fall short for me. The pacing left me bewildered at some points and bored at others. I really like the details of this story, but reading it ended up feeling like work.

It's not like it goes completely off the rails—it's good enough that I stayed frustrated to the end. It could have been great. It was definitely still worth reading, but I probably won't read it again.
