- In general:
After some thoughts on my behavior ... I've come to realize that my "Happy, cheery, child-like" personality is just one big coping mechanism for my ****ed up mind/emotions. I noticed it's like a switch going from happy to serious (where I usually feel depressed, or angry like). No wonder I think I'm bi-polar (See laughing it off, heh). *sigh* I really do have a warped mind, and storm of emotions in my heart. I'm really messed up
Oh maybe my coping mechanism in general is denial and being cheerful.
Recent events:
My son broke my glasses -
To cope I took a deep breath, took my broken glasses, and left the room.
My other son made a huge mess in his room -
Took a deep breath, put him in time out, and walked away to calm down.Told my husband to deal with the mess.
I guess when it concerns my children pissing me off I take a deep breath, leave, and deal with it after I've calmed down. I would say decent way to cope with anger caused by them. (Better than acting in anger, and regretting whatever action later).

I read manga when stressed! That might be the main reason I'm here
I like cleaning when I'm not feeling emotionally well. It helps me relax. There's also my cat, who helps me cope with shit. He gets annoyed cause I hug and pet him too much but he's so cute when he's irritated... so... yeah, my poor baby is used to it though >__>

I don't ever give in to stress in public, I laugh if I can, I sometime look away but not for long, if im not alone I try to make the person next to me smile because smiling is contagious.
Went i'm alone, I give reign to my emotion to let to pain go away. If I fill an outburst of violence I speak my mind, I put violence in my word not in my fist or in my heart. I did do that once I was in rage against the world after the death of 3 of my family member. Because of that now I cant bring myself to let hate take over my grief because I hate myself went I do.
And reading book make it easy to let emotion go without hard feeling about it.

When stressed too much I often wait for it to build up a bit, when it gets to be a bit to much I relieve it by playing the piano or going for a jog.

The most relaxing activity for me is taking a bath. Doing yoga and swimming helps to calm me too. But if I'm too bothered about something I just read books/mangas and distract myself for a while.

Bang a few doors. This works surprisingly well whenever I am stressed. Recently I try to go to sleep whenever I am too angry or stressed. Best way to calm down and it also saves the cost of repairing the broken doors

I distract myself by reading with my headphones ON playing my favorite music and at the same time eating my favorite foods.
I always tell to myself that what comes after unpleasant events are good events. When you sometimes feel that you've sunk to the lowest only means that the next step is upward.

although it sounds really cliche, i like to look through by favorite poets poems until i find one that fits my situation, Emily Dickinson poems are usually the ones that i find the most comforting, maybe its because she is the only female poet that i really like

I can deal with usual "unpleasant" events just by doing something else to eventually forget about it. When it comes to emotional abuse I have to talk to my best friends or else I will feel like smashing things.

I write a letter to myself describing the problem, then reply to my own letter at a later time in a sort of detached way, as if I were giving advice to someone else, complete with logical steps based on the problem outlined in the first letter on how to relieve whatever the problem is that's causing me stress/distress/unhappiness. I find that through writing, I can talk about the problem in a more logical way. I suppose it's a bit like doing mental maths, which I absolutely suck at. However, simply writing down the numbers makes the calculation a lot easier. Well it's probably a somewhat weird way of tackling the issue, but it's worked for me on basically everything so far.
I think the best way to deal with problems is to acknowledge the problem exists in the first place, then take steps to remedy the problem. Other "stress busters" like eating, listening to music, exercising, etc. are just distractions, and although you might feel good in the midst of doing those activities, the reality's going to hit you again after you stop. I think the only way to really clear your conscience about something stressful is to do something that directly contributes to remedying the problem, so you can stop worrying, as you've really done all that you can at that point.

I usually either laugh or watch Cardcaptor Sakura. That always helps.

If the unpleasant thing makes me kind of emotional, I'll go to my room and cry until I fall asleep. Rather than trying hard to bear with it, just let it out by crying, it eases me up.
But if it simply puts me in a bad mood, I'll think about funny stuffs somehow and laugh about it. I heard from somewhere ''You're not smiling because you're happy, but you're happy because you're smiling''. Regardless of what's true, this quote really hit me.
